Chapter 21: The Homewrecker Shows Up at the Hospital with the Son
Chapter 21: The Homewrecker Shows Up at the Hospital with the Son
Hatred surged through Steven, his molars nearly cracking. Yet all he could do was order his assistant to buy medicine.
The assistant asked cautiously,
“Mr. Price, which stomach medicine do you usually take? Normally Madam handled these things… I really don’t know.”
Steven’s face darkened, veins bulging on his temple.
“Any medicine! Just get it! What, without her I can’t take anything else?!”
The assistant, trembling, rushed out and bought every type of stomach pill he could find.
But after swallowing them, the pain only worsened, stabbing through his gut.
How could this be?
Wendy had always given him ordinary stomach medicine–why did it work when hers did, yet now nothing helped?
“Call Wendy right now! Tell her to bring the medicine here herself!”
The assistant, shaking, dialed her number.
“Madam, the President wants you to bring the medicine immediately.”
Wendy laughed coldly.
“If he’s unwell, go to the hospital. I’m a cardiac surgeon, not his personal physician.”
Snatching the phone, Steven growled,
“Fine, don’t ever see me again!”
Wendy’s voice was icy.
“Gladly. I feel sick every time I look at your face.”
She hung up, a rush of satisfaction flooding her chest.
So many years bowing and scraping before him–all because she loved him. If not for that love, how would she have endured so much humiliation?
But now, that love was gone. And she would live for herself.
Besides, he would never find that medicine again. That prescription had been specially prepared by a retired traditional doctor, begged for by her.
That afternoon, her phone rang.
“Wendy, Queenie and Michael are causing trouble at the hospital. Please come quickly!”
Even after resigning, Queenie dared to storm into her workplace? Shameless!
“I’ll be right there!”
When Wendy arrived, the corridor was packed with patients.

“Doctor Ulrich, what’s going on? Why can’t we get in even though we booked appointments?”
“Doctor Ulrich, thank goodness you’re here. Someone’s taken over your office!”
Wendy strode in, her face cold, locking eyes with Queenie’s tear–stained one.
“Sister, how could you? Steven was in agony and called you, but you ignored him. He was in such pain he fell down the stairs!”
Michael shouted,
“You wicked mom! Dad broke his leg because of you. You owe him an apology!”
Their voices boomed, loud enough for every patient outside to hear.
Whispers rose immediately.
“Doctor Ulrich? But she’s always so caring with us patients. Could she really neglect her own family?”
“That boy just called her ‘mom‘… but isn’t Queenie the mistress? Is this the original wife being confronted?”
The gossip swirled, suspicion mounting.
Queenie’s lips curved in triumph. This bitch will be ruined.
Wendy, however, remained calm. Her eyes were sharp as knives.
Without warning–smack!
Her palm landed across Queenie’s cheek.
“You hit me?!” Queenie clutched her face in disbelief.
Michael shoved Wendy in fury. She staggered, crashing into the desk, pain searing her waist.
Queenie immediately seized the chance.
“Sister, you’re clearly at fault, yet you hit me! If you had cared for Steven and Michael all these years, would this family have fallen apart?”
Wendy ignored her, pulling a document from the drawer and slamming it onto the desk.
“I’m already divorced from Steven. His affairs have nothing to do with me. Keep this up, and I’ll make sure the world knows what kind of homewrecker you are.”
Queenie blanched, but when her eyes caught the file, her heart leapt.
It was the divorce agreement. And on the last page–Steven’s signature.
She nearly burst with joy. They’re really divorced!
Wendy’s voice was ice.
“Happy now? Then get out. From now on, Steven and Michael are yours. Keep them in line, and don’t parade them in front of me again.”
Queenie snorted smugly, dragging Michael away.
Yet the boy kept glancing back, panic flickering in his eyes.
Had his parents really divorced? Would his bad mom truly never return?

He should be glad. So why did his chest ache so much?
As soon as they left, the hospital director appeared.
“Doctor Ulrich, about your resignation… the board hasn’t approved it. Will you reconsider? You’re our best heart surgeon. Without you, many patients-”
Wendy shook her head firmly.
“My decision is final.”
The director sighed.
“But many patients are under your care. Who will take them on? And that Mr. Robinson’s son–only you can operate on him.”
Wendy frowned.
She had promised Harry to perform the surgery once in Miami, but until then, she had to monitor James’s diet and condition. She had let her emotions blind her these past days–how could she have forgotten something so vital?
She was a doctor. She had to be responsible.
Finally, she nodded.
She would stay, for her patients.
Two hours later, Wendy went to James’s ward.
He was asleep, but his small face twisted in a nightmare, pale and trembling.
“Mommy… mommy… James’s scared…”
Wendy’s chest clenched.
