Chapter 6
After hesitating for a while, Daniel’s assistant gave him my abortion report.
Daniel’s assistant knew what was going on. Since he wasn’t part of the family, he couldn’t comment on anything, but he knew he should give Daniel this when he saw Andrea in bed with a sickly pale face.
“Mr. Trivett, this is Mrs. Trivett’s medical record.”
Daniel suddenly remembered he said “Serve her right” when his assistant told him Andrea’s condition was critical. His heart ached as his eyes were filled with agony.
“Mr. Trivett, Mrs. Trivett was pregnant when she fell off the stairs.” His assistant couldn’t even bring himself to recall what had happened.
“What?!” Daniel’s eyes turned bloodshot as he was shocked by the news.
“How could this be? How could this be?” he kept muttering.
Gradually, he realized it was possible. Back then, he spent every day with Dana and forgot to tamper with Andrea’s milk. He even came up with lots of reasons to lie to Andrea. These days, Andrea was acting weird; she’d refuse him in bed and get sick and puke sometimes.
Seeing Daniel keeping his head down, his assistant called out tentatively, “Mr. Trivett?”
A tear fell onto Andrea’s medical record.
Then Daniel said, his voice hoarse, “Get out. And bring Samuel with you.”
Chapter 6
All Samuel knew was he and Daniel made Andrea lose her baby, his unborn sibling. He cried while being held in Daniel’s assistant’s arms.
After that, a huge crash came from the office, startling the employees outside. They all shared the same thought–Daniel deserved it.

Daniel stared at my photo blankly, his lips trembling. He couldn’t utter a word at all.
Back in the Trivett family’s residence, Marsh said flatly, “Cut it out, Daniel. You didn’t give a damn about Andrea when she was alive. Now that she’s dead, you’re acting like some devoted husband?”
The dark circles under Daniel’s eyes were obvious. Samuel clung to him, saying nothing.
Marsh continued, “You wanna know the truth? She asked for the divorce agreement, and I gave it to her.”
Frowning, he looked at Daniel, who let him down so much. “After
Samuel’s mom gave birth to Samuel and died, Andrea came to me, asking me to give her 5 million dollars. In exchange, she’d marry you and take care of Samuel for ten years. Now, her task is done, and she no longer has anything to do with us.‘
Daniel stared at Marsh without blinking. “She came to you? Really? Did she take the money?”
Marsh was no longer that calm as he saw the stack of documents Daniel threw in front of him. Daniel said, “There have never been any large transfers in her account. Back then, you threatened her into marrying me by saying you wanted her to repay you. She didn’t take a penny.”
Daniel was overwhelmed by agony. “Dad, why would you lie to everyone?”
“Because that was the only way to make you hate her,” Marsh said flatly.
Chapter 6
258 Vouchers
“Only by doing this could I ensure she wouldn’t give birth to the Trivett family’s descendants. Only by doing this could I ensure she left when ten years were up.
“She was an orphan and didn’t deserve to be part of our family at all.”
Daniel looked at Marsh, who had never seemed so unfamiliar. “Because she was the daughter of the woman you loved and another man, right?”
Marsh’s expression changed at once.
Daniel continued, “Her parents died in a car wreck, and because she looked like her mother when she was little, you sponsored her. Later, she looked like her father more, and you could tell she loved me, so you took advantage of her gratitude and forced her into this marriage.”
Being exposed, Marsh looked at Daniel, his gaze darkening. “Yeah. So what? I paid for her tuition, provided for her life, and helped her marry the man she loved. I owe her nothing.”
Daniel said with difficulty, “What about me? Have you ever thought about Samuel and me?”
Marsh looked at him, puzzled. “You’ve lost nothing. Andrea is dead, but you still have Dana. She’ll be your wife and Samuel’s mom.”
Samuel shouted at Marsh, “Andrea is my
mom!
Marsh remained unfazed. Seeing this, Daniel took Samuel to leave decisively.
