Chapter 5
On the way to the hospital, Damien let out a quiet sigh.
“You got reborn too.“[]
I laughed bitterly.[]
“Reborn or not–what’s the fucking difference? You were never gonna choose me anyway.“[]
“I’m sorry.“]
I turned to look at him, and it hit me how ridiculous this all was. “Damien, two lifetimes and that’s still all you’ve got? ‘Sorry?”
He suddenly grabbed my face and kissed me hard, whispering against my lips, “Aurelia, for the last time–suffer it for me.
“It’s just some blood. You’re not gonna die.“]]
“Once everything’s over, I’ll marry you. I swear I’ll spend forever making it right.“[
I gave him a twisted smile and didn’t say a word.
At the hospital, they dragged me straight into the blood donation room.]]
I watched my blood flow through the tube into the bag, feeling myself getting weaker by the minute.]

Damien and Leonardo had already
run off to the OR, pacing are in
panic. “How is she? Is Helena
gonna be okay?”
Nobody asked if I was dizzy. Nobody gave a shit how pale I was getting.
When they hooked up the second blood bag, everything started going dark around the edges.
The nurse looked worried. “This girl’s severely anemic. We take much more and she’ll die.”
Damien caught that and frowned, instinctively grabbing my hand like that would somehow help. “Helena’s still in surgery. Just hang in there a little longer.“]
I stared up at the harsh lights, suddenly so tired.
“Damien, let’s just set each other free.“]
