Chapter 122
After the confirmation, they didn’t waste anymore time when they shifted into their beast and immediately dashed away from there.
They were lucky with the fact that Kellan spotted them first before those warriors noticed their presence.
Kellan moved with ease in the snow, his beast was very steady and strong, while Jasmine’s beast was struggling to get through the thick snow.
Knowing that, Kellan took the initiative to walk ahead of her, so she could follow his footsteps and this made it easier for Jasmine to move and follow him.
is after she ran This time, they ran for hours to make sure they put enough distance between them. Jasmine reached six hours without stopping. Her legs gave in and she stumbled on the fallen branches and almost fell to the cliff if it was for Kellan, who immediately shifted into his human form and grabbed Jasmine’s beast, pulled her up and placed her in the safe
spot.
Jasmine shifted into her human form too, since she could no longer preserved her beast form. She was too tired and exhausted to even lift a finger.
“No. I couldn’t… I couldn’t run anymore.” Jasmine was breathing raggedly. She felt like she was going to pass out at this point and this was very scary.
“Come on, we need to find a hiding place.” Kellan encouraged her, he then lifted her up and Jasmine felt like something like this had happened before, but her mind was too messy to remember the moment, since she was too tired.
She let him to pick her up and she clung to him.
Kellan walked away from the vast clearing area and didn’t bother to erase his footprints, since the snow was falling right now and it could cover his trace just fine.
He walked toward the frozen lake. They were close to Great Darren city and he knew this place rather well, thus he knew where to go and find a place to hide.
“I think… I think I can walk, put me down…” Jasmine said, as she felt, she had regained some of her strength. She didn’t want to tire him out and put him in danger if they needed to run away or fight.
“Get more rest,” Kellan said simply.
“No. I am fine.” Jasmine wriggled her body in his arms until he put her down. “Where are we going? It’s frozen lake.” She asked because they were going straight to the frozen lake.
“Shortcut.”
Jasmine took a deep breath, she looked at him with horror in her eyes, but Kellan just grinned. If he was nervous, he didn’t show it at all on his face. He patted her shoulder lightly.
“Don’t worry, I am good swimmer.”
“Hey! Don’t jinx!” Jasmine hit his arm. “Do you think the ice is thick enough to hold our weight?”
“Me, maybe, but I am not sure about you. You are rather heavy.”
“What do you mean with that?!” Jasmine hit him again. Upset, while he was laughing. For a moment, Jasmine forgot about her fatigue and all she could think of was this frozen lake, she looked mortified.
“Should we go over one by one if you were very worried?” Kellan suggested. “You can go first.”
“You mean, you want to send me first to test whether or not the ice is thick enough?”
Kellan feigned surprised. “Did I make it very obvious?” Jasmine glared at him, but Kellan still looked composed. “Snow has fallen since days ago and the water must have started frozen before that too. It will be strong enough for us to cross.”
“Are you sure?”

Chapter 122
“A hundred percent.”
Jasmine didn’t know what to say. She put all of her faith in his word right now when both of them crossed the frozen lake.
“Careful when you put your feet.” Kellan held her hand tightly and guided her to follow him.
“Have you done this before?” Jasmine asked, she looked down and she could see the water stream under the thick ice. It gave her blood a chill. She carefully put her foot down as per his instruction, not only that, she carefully breathing too because she was afraid if she put so much weight by breathing greedily, the ice would crack.
Silly, but the whole situation got on her nerves and she couldn’t think straight right now.
All this time, she had been living in the shelter of protection and love from her father and mother, no one would even dare to threaten her. She didn’t know danger until recently, let alone to be chased to death like this.
“Yeah, I have done it several times,” Kellan replied, which gave some sort of comfort, knowing he was not new this crazy thing.
However, when they were halfway through the frozen lake, Kellan’s body was stiffened and Jasmine immediately knew what happened.
“They are here, right?”
“Yes, close enough,” Kellan groaned and then cursed under his breath.
“What to do?” Jasmine looked over her shoulder, she moved a little bit faster and her movement became clumsy, as she wanted to get away from there as soon as possible.
This slippery ice gave her anxiety, yet Kellan remained calm and this gave her a sense of security that she needed.
“When I said run, you need to run to the other side of the lake as soon as possible, understand?”
“What about…”
“No. Don’t argue with me about this. Do you understand?” Kellan asked her assertively and this was the first time he talked to her firmly and without thinking twice, Jasmine nodded.
Kellan then put her to walk ahead of him, he stayed behind her and kept his eyes behind them.
“Don’t look back, focus on walk on ward.”
Jasmine did what she was told to do, but it was hard not to look over her shoulder when she could feel them were there, she heard their growls and their claws when they tried to cross the frozen lake too.
