Chapter 9
If it weren’t for Hayden, he would’ve divorced her without
hesitation.
Romina swiftly dashed off a bank account number and tossed
him the paper.
After stepping out of the station, Romina was about to leave
when someone called out from behind her, “Wait.”
She stopped in her tracks and turned around coldly. “Yes?”
Glancing at her, Jericho said, his voice devoid of any warmth,
“Grandpa misses you. Also, Joaquin is about to come back these
days. There’ll be a family reunion at the Bowman’s mansion the
evening after tomorrow. Show up on time.”
He hadn’t intended to ask her back.
An ex-con would only humiliate him.
But she was released right after his uncle, Joaquin Bowman,
came back.
Hayden would give him a hard time for sure if she didn’t attend
the family banquet.
Besides, with Joaquin’s formidable power and influence, he
might feel disrespected at Romina’s absence.
Romina paused slightly after hearing Jericho’s words.
Joaquin’s breathtakingly handsome face flashed through her
mind.
“Did you hear me?”
Noticing her silence, Jericho frowned slightly and raised his
voice.
Snapping out of it, she nodded after a moment of silence.
“Alright.”
A flicker of doubt stirred within her at the same time.
Why was Joaquin suddenly back?
After two days of rest, Romina’s condition had improved.
But she still felt dizzy on the day of the family reunion.
By evening, she washed up simply before hailing a cab to the
Bowman’s mansion, which was halfway up the mountain.
It had been three years since her last visit, and she returned a
completely different person.
As she reached the entrance, the vanity-plated Cullinan came
into her view.
He really was back.
“Mommy, dinner’s about to begin. Why are you so late?”
Kashton’s voice, laced with displeasure, rang out from the main
door.
As Romina glanced over, her attention was attracted by the two
familiar figures behind Kashton.
It was Jericho and Nadine.
Jericho had actually brought Nadine to the family reunion?
As Romina strode inside, Nadine’s gaze fell upon her. “Great
timing, Ms. Sandoval. The kitchen is swamped. Let’s go over and
give them a hand.”
Normally, the Bowman family had full staff. But today was the
holiday, and several servants had taken leave.
Back then, at every family gathering, Romina would personally
cook just to ensure Jericho and Kashton could eat well.
But they still thought she was lazy.
Her devotion turned out to be nothing but a joke.
Looking at Nadine’s retreating figure, Romina showed no
intention of following her.
“Mommy, go help Nadi. She’s been busy after getting here.
What if she gets exhausted?” Kashton urged her and even
pushed her from behind.
Jericho was talking to his mother, Lenora Richmond, and he
didn’t even bother to cast a glance at Romina.
Same indifferent as him, she walked straight into the kitchen
without a word.
Seeing her, Nadine said, “Ms. Sandoval, this sauce dish is for
Kash. I’m tied up in here, so could you help me place this at his
seat?”
Before Romina could refuse, Nadine had already had a servant
hand it to her.
As Romina walked out with the sauce dish, out of the corner of
her eye, she saw two familiar figures descending the stairs
slowly.
“Romi, you’re back.”
As Hayden’s voice rang out, she immediately looked over.
What came into her view was Joaquin’s stunningly cold,
handsome face.
Chapter 9
The tailored dark suit, paired with the black ring on his slender
right index finger, exuded an untouchable aura.
Whenever she saw him, two words always came to her mind-
frosted elegance.
Joaquin slowly walked downstairs next to Hayden.
When walking past her, he merely glanced at her coldly for a
fleeting moment.
She couldn’t help but tighten her grip on the sauce dish.
He was undoubtedly the chosen one.
It had never occurred to her that they’d see each other again on
such an occasion.
