Chapter 6 The Real Snow Has Just Begun
“She planted it! Quinn planted the necklace herself!”
“Why did Peter help her?! He saw the whole thing!”
“Blood is thicker than water. I guess. Even after all this time, he still sides with his real sister.”
“This whole family has no brain, seriously.”
In the courtroom-
Quinn suddenly shrieked and lunged at the screen.
“It’s fake! That memory’s been tampered with?”
“That’s not what happened! You’re all being fooled by her!”
The judge gave her a cold look, tone completely flat. “Overruled.”
“The memory trial uses top–level authentication. Ms. Moore. Watch your behavior in court.”

Mandy gripped the railing beside her, unsteady, voice trembling. “Elsa… I didn’t know about the necklace. Why didn’t you say something?”
“Explain?”
Elsa let out a low, bitter laugh.
“You forget–you never gave me a chance to explain. You locked me in the basement, didn’t feed me, wouldn’t let me attend the banquet…”
Another memory began.
Elsa stood at the door, panicked, pleading desperately.
But the only response was Felix’s angry roar from the hallway
“Think about what you’ve done! I’m ashamed to have a daughter like your
“You’re lucky we don’t throw you out to save face!”
Quinn’s sickly sweet voice came through the door. “Peter, do you think Elsa will starve to death?”
“Who cares? Just seeing her puts me in a bad mood. Always pretending to be so pitiful.”
Quinn’s giggle floated in through the cracks.
The livestream erupted again.
“Are you kidding me?! That’s child abuse!”
“This family is insane! They jumped to conclusions with no proof!”
“Everyone who cursed Elsa earlier, get out here and apologize!”
Bang
Before the gave had even hit the block, Peter shot up from the gallery.
Aleyes turned to him, especially after everything that had just been revealed.
They waited curious what he could possibly say now.
Peter tugged bus ne loose, face contorted with disgust.
A thought flickered through his mind–he regretted not letting Elsa die in that basement.

He pointed straight at her, standing weakly in the defendant’s seat.
“Your Honor! I have another accusation!”
Gasps rippled across the courtroom.
The livestream chat exploded.
“Seriously? There’s more?!”
“This is twist after twist after twist. I gotta see how this ends.”
“All those other charges didn’t stick–this one better lead somewhere.”

Relishing the attention, Peter waved his phone with exaggerated flair.
He pointed again at Elsa, voice solemn.
“This woman didn’t even spare my
friend!”
He slammed a stack of photos onto the table.
Blurry snapshots showed Elsa and Xu Huaishen standing side by side on a beach.
“She seduced Xu Huaishen! She pretended to be pitiful while using that face to lure men!”
The images flashed across the livestream.
And this time–it looked like damning evidence.
Even those who had defended Elsa before began to waver.
“Damn! Photo evidence–this one’s real.”
“No wonder the Moore family couldn’t stand her. She’s trash to the core!”
“She really had us fooled with that whole act. Climbing into beds to survive, huh?”
“I was starting to feel sorry for her. Guess I was too naive.”
The insults came flooding in.
Elsa gripped the edge of the table, fingers bone white.
Those filthy words stabbed through her chest like knives.
No one even gave her a chance to speak.
She lowered her gaze and caught a glimpse of Xu Huaishen’s blurry profile in the photo.
And like floodgates opening, the memory returned all at once
“I’m starving just a litle food…”
The basement was dark and musty. Elsa curled up in a corner, frantically searching the cracks in the drawers.
Three days.
She hadn’t eaten anything but water in three days.
Her stomach twisted in pain, and sweat beaded on her forehead.

She crawled through the shadows, relying on the faint light from the high window to guide her hands.
She knew there was probably no food down here.
But at that point, survival was all she had left to hold onto.
