I sighed as I took off my shoes, sat down on the couch, and exhaled.
“Did he say something to you to offend you?” She asked, seeing that I was a bit distracted.

“He didn’t say anything to me.”
“Are you sure? You’ve been quiet all the way home, and I was certain that he said something that took you back to the years when you were together.”
“Nothing. Besides, I’m with Ethan now. I would be a fool if I’d say that seeing Elijah had any impact on how I feel about him because it doesn’t.” I smiled at her. “Let’s get some sleep, I have to get up early tomorrow and go back to the villa to get some work done before Monday.

When I got back to the villa, I was surprised to see flower petals on the floor from the front door leading down to the bedroom.
After following the lead, I found Ethan with a bottle of champagne in his hand and a huge smile on his face as if I hadn’t walked out of the villa last night angry because he gave his ex–girlfriend our location and denied everything in my face.

I was so deeply touched by his speech that I immediately forgot that I was angry with him.

“This is the least I could’ve done to show you how much I appreciate having you by my side. I wouldn’t have achieved a lot of things without you,” he said behind me.
I looked down at the lunch setup and felt my eyes swelling with tears.
“This means a lot to me. Thank you, babe.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a very passionate kiss.
In my mind, I thought that if I made out with him, maybe I would forget all the problems that we were having and all the people who were trying to ruin our relationship.
