Chapter 13
His voice trembled, struggling to suppress the shock.
“Nora… is that really you?!”
He pushed the door open–only to see Nora was tucked safely in Dominic’s arms.
His mind went blank.
“Nora, what are you doing with Dominic Faulkner? Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you? I’ve been searching everywhere…”
He pleaded, reaching toward her with a trembling hand.
“Nora… come home… please…”
But Nora didn’t spare him a single glance.
“Mr. Whitmore, we’re divorced. Please act accordingly.”
“That’s impossible!”
Chase suddenly snapped.
“I never signed anything! If I don’t acknowledge it, then it’s not real!”
“Nora, you’re mine. You’ll always be mine–forever.”
Dominic stepped forward and shielded her behind him.
“Mr. Whitmore.”
His tone was sharp as ice.
“Nora is my fiancée now. We’ll be getting married soon. I suggest you stop before this becomes
even more humiliating.”
Chase stood frozen as if struck by lightning.
Married? Fiancée?
Nora was going to marry someone else? That couldn’t be true!
He was on the verge of losing control–but Nora stood beside Dominic, calm and composed. She

didn’t look like she was pretending.
Agony surged through him like a tidal wave.
“Nora, you said you’d love me for the rest of your life. How could you go back on your word?”
“I know you hated Camila. I’ve already dealt with her–she won’t ever bother us again. Look, I even
recorded it. See…”
With shaking hands, he pulled out his phone. A woman’s anguished wailing filled the stairwell.
Nora’s expression darkened by the second.
As she watched Camila’s distorted face on the screen, she didn’t feel vindicated or victorious-
Only a bone–deep, suffocating grief.
“That’s enough.”
Her tone was cold.
“What happens between you and Camila is none of my concern. But don’t you dare stain my name
with your violence. That kind of rot devours its own host.”
“Chase Whitmore, we are done!”
“I don’t accept that!” he roared.
“And why not?”
Nora looked at him, mocking.
“Oh, right. You have every reason not to. When we got married, it was my family’s shares that
saved your company from collapse. I managed the household, raised our daughter, took care of
every little thing. You paraded side pieces from A to Z through our front door. I never interfered. I never asked for anything.”
“All that, just to become your live–in maid and on–call sex toy–no wonder you never wanted a
divorce.”
Chase looked at her with anguish.
“Nora… don’t speak about yourself like that.”

“But that’s the truth,” she said flatly.
“I lived worse than a maid. At least they don’t get threatened. They don’t get shoved into sinks. And they sure as hell don’t get pimped out by the man who swore to protect them!”
Her voice cracked, and the tears finally fell.
Dominic’s brows furrowed at her words. He gave Chase a look full of hostility:
All Chase felt now was regret.
“Nora… I didn’t order that… It was Camila…”
})
“Enough.” Nora didn’t want to hear another word.
“Whether it was you or her–what’s the difference? You both make my skin crawl.”
“If you still have a shred of decency, you’ll vanish from my life for good.”
Chase stood there in stunned silence, staring at her.
Her eyes held no warmth–only pure, cutting loathing.
He searched her face desperately, but the tenderness he once knew… was gone.
She truly didn’t love him anymore.
Not even a little.
A tear slipped down Chase’s cheek.
“This is about Dominic, isn’t it? You’re choosing him over me… aren’t you?”
Dominic’s jaw tightened. “You-”
Nora cut in.
“That’s right.”
She now only wanted one thing–to make Chase suffer.
“Dominic is hotter, richer, smarter–and a thousand times the man you’ll ever be. Why the hell
would I want you?”
“Now get out.”
