Chapter 11
Katherine kept taking deep breaths, trying her best to calm herself down. She clung tightly to Derrick’s waist.
“Derrick. Derrick, Katherine repeated his name over and over, each call draining Derrick of all emotion. Only a heart that felt like it was about to melt remained, no matter how much Katherine struggled.
They were still in the hospital lobby, making quite a scene. It wasn’t long before hospital security arrived.
“It’s nothing. Just a misunderstanding. Derrick explained.
This was a private hospital run by one of Derrick’s partners, and Derrick had some shares in it, so he was effectively a partial owner.
Since he said it was fine, the security guard didn’t press further. But just as the guard was about to leave, Derrick called him back.
Throw him out. From now on, anyone who charges at people like a madman–don’t let them in,” Derrick ordered.
The guard immediately followed the command and took Charles, who was still dazed from the choking, out of the hospital.
Katherine relaxed, her body going limp as she leaned against Derrick. He lifted her up, bending down to place her back in the wheelchair when Katherine suddenly threw her arms around his neck, climbing up.
I don’t want to sit in the wheelchair. Can you carry me, Derrick? Please, carry me,” she said, her breath warm against his exposed skin. Derrick had no reason to refuse.
Derrick thought, Is it because Charles can’t see us now that she’s willing to let me touch her again? But why did Katherine suddenly choke Charles earlier? Was it a show for me? Was she trying to get me to lower my guard?”
He couldn’t make sense of it. A heavy feeling weighed on him, and his expression turned cold.
Derrick thought, If she’s acting, then I hope she’ll keep acting for the rest of her life. Otherwise, I don’t know what I might do in a moment of madness that will make Katherine hate me even more.
Dr. Harper Hill was an expert in obstetrics. She closed the curtains and spent a long time conducting the examination.
“The report will take at least three hours to come out You can go have breakfast first, Harper said, pulling back the curtains and removing her mask. Her expression seemed a bit serious.
Derrick glanced at Harper a little longer, then picked up the still–unawäre Katherine and left.
In the garage, Maeve had prepared a salad and brought it over. It was one of the few things Katherine could keep down without vomiting these days. It was too bland and tasteless, and it lacked nutrition.
“Have something to eat. I’ll step out to make a call. Is that alright?” Derrick gently asked, holding Katherine’s cold hand as he spoke sofily.
“Yeah, go ahead, Katherine said understandingly and waved him off.
Derrick glanced at Marve, who nodded, signaling that she would keep an eye on Katherine.
Derrick didn’t have any calls to make. In order to accompany Katherine to her prenatal checkup, he had already informed all of his assistants not to send him any urgent documents, no matter how pressing,
He took the elevator back to the department where Katherine had just been examined. “Let me take a look at the film,” he spoke.
Harper seemed to have anticipated Derrick’s return and handed him the images from Katherine’s scan.
Derrick studied them for a while, seeing a small mass inside a shadow. He thought. This is our child, Katherine’s and mine
He couldn’t make sense of the film and turned to Harper, confused. Harper pointed to two areas on the film, saying. “The baby’s position is too high up. It’s pressing against the stomach, which is why the morning sickness is so severe.”
She adjusted her glasses and added, “It might not just be morning sickness. It could also be because of the position, putting too much pressure on surrounding organs as the embryo develops”

With each word, Derrick’s brows furrowed tighter. His grip on the film became so tense that his hand turned pale. “Doctor, just tell me
the result
Seeing his expression, Harper sighed, “There are two options. One, try to adjust the baby’s position, though it might not work. The longer we wait, the more damage it could do to the mother’s body.”
She paused for a moment, then continued. “The second option is to terminate the p
the pregnancy while it’s still early.”
At the mention of the second option, Derrick’s heart jolted Terminate the pregnancy?” He thought. This is my child, my only hope. If we terminate it, will Katherine leave me immediately and go to Charles?

When Derrick returned to the garage, Katherine had just finished vomiting. She had thrown up the half–eaten salad.
Maeve was there, handing Katherine water and wiping her mouth. Maeve remarked worriedly, “Why are you throwing up so badly? The food doesn’t even smell strange.
“Oh my goodness, if you keep throwing up like this, not only will the baby be at risk, but you’re going to wear yourself out too.”
The words weren’t meant to hurt, but to Derrick’s ears, they were like sharp arrows, piercing his heart with each one. He thought, I can’t let anything bad happen to Katherine. I can live without the child, but I can’t live without her.
“Mr. Graham, you’re back?” Maeve asked, confused. She caught a glimpse of Derrick standing in the shadow, his gaze a bit unsettling. She quickly called out to him, unsure of what had affected him.
Derrick nodded and walked toward them. He gently placed his hand on Katherine’s shoulder, guiding her to lean against him. “Are feeling uncomfortable?”

When he showed care, it made Katherine feel more vulnerable. She could still hold herself together in front of Maeve. But in Derrick’s presence, Katherine’s lips trembled, and tears welled up, one after another.
“Yes, I feel sick, Katherine said, burying her face in his neck, sniffing.
She really was in discomfort. Her body trembled from hunger, and when she finally managed to ear a little, it felt as if something had pushed it right back out. Just now, Katherine almost felt like she was going to vomit her stomach up
She paused, nudging her nose against Derrick’s collarbone, her voice hoarse. “It’s so uncomfortable.”
Hearing this, Derrick was heartbroken. He pulled Katherine tightly into his arms. “It’s okay You’ll feel better soon. I’ll have Dr. Hill prescribe some medication that’s safe for pregnant women. It’ll help with the symptoms”
Maeve looked at Derrick, puzzled, thinking, “Are there really medications safe for pregnant women?
Even though Katherine had given birth in her previous life, she didn’t have much experience with pregnancy.
If u weren’t for her growing belly, she wouldn’t even ha sickness in her previous life.
realized she was pregnant. The key thing was that she never had morning
Exhausted, she murmured softly before falling asleep, resting her head against Derrick, “Okay.”
