He grabbed my shoulders, his face twisted in anguish as he demanded answers, desperation
etched into every line.
I clenched my fists, fighting to hold back the hatred boiling inside me, but the tears slipped down my cheeks, unstoppable.
“This is all because of you. You forced me to donate blood–I’ve lost my chance to ever be a mother! Every single miscarriage I’ve had in the past is all thanks to you!”
My miscarriages were never accidents. Every time, it was Austin’s doing.
Not long after we got married, Kayla came back
One of their mutual friends found Austin and told him that Kayla had only broken up with him because she was seriously ill, that she’d left the country for treatment, and that everyone had kept it from him so he wouldn’t be heartbroken.
Now, her condition was under control, but she still couldn’t let go of Austin, so she returned to the States just to see him from afar. The friend couldn’t bear to see sad and finally told him the truth.

Soon after, Kayla had a relapse, and the hospital’s blood bank ran dry. I was dragged in to donate blood, and after that, it never stopped.

After I refused to donate blood while pregnant, Austin tricked me into going to the hospital for a “prenatal checkup“-and had my blood drawn anyway.
Right after, he couldn’t wait to rush off and take care of Kayla.
That night, I started bleeding and couldn’t stop. Mindy panicked and rushed me to the hospital, where the doctor told me I was having a threatened miscarriage and needed strict bed rest.
But in the end, the baby couldn’t be saved. During the surgery, Mindy called Austin to get his signature, but he accused her of putting on a show. Even after the procedure, he tried to drag me back to donate blood again.
Thinking of the child I’d lost yet again, grief overwhelmed me, and I couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Get out. Get out–I want a divorce. I never want to see your face again!”

My vision blurred with tears, and then everything went black. I lost consciousness completely.
When I woke up, it was the next day.
The hospital’s sterile decor and sharp smell of disinfectant filled my senses. Mindy hurried over as soon as she saw I was awake.
“Eloise, thank God you’re finally up. I’m so sorry–I should have been more careful…”
Austin saw me stir and rushed to my side, his eyes red and voice

choked with emotion.
“Honey, why didn’t you tell me about the miscarriage? If you’d told me, I would’ve taken care of you.”
Mindy was livid. She shoved him aside.
“Austin, do you even hear yourself?
“How could you not know why Eloise miscarried? I’ve never met anyone who’d make a pregnant woman donate blood. You and your beloved crush are both shameless–worse than animals!”
Austin fell silent under my calm, unflinching gaze, guilt written all over his face.
Just then, a nurse walked over, her brow furrowed as she shot Austin a sharp look.
“What’s all this noise? I’ve told you again and again–your wife just had a miscarriage. She needs peace and quiet, but you never listen.
“And how could you make someone donate blood right after losing a baby? That’s dangerous!
“I’ve been a nurse for years, and I’ve never seen anyone treat human life with such disregard. And you have the nerve to stand here crying?”
Austin was finally left speechless.
His posture slumped, his spirit defeated, but he stubbornly refused to admit he was wrong.
I watched him quietly, my heart utterly calm. This farce was finally
over.
