Chapter 11
Meanwhile, at Weston Villa, Chloe and Grace had both changed into haute couture evening gowns with the help of the Servants
Both went for a gentle look, one in pale pink and the other in light yellow. The strapless gowns paired with delicate makeup made them look pretty and delicate.
Linda, who was dressed in a dark blue evening gown, nodded with satisfaction as she looked at her two daughters.
Tonight was Linda’s first time going to Weston Manor to attend a dinner party. For her, as Mason’s daughter–in–law, this was undoubtedly humiliating. But at the same time, it was a good opportunity.
She wanted to prove to everyone that even if she wasn’t David’s first wife, she still had what it took to be the lady of the house.
“Don’t embarrass your grandpa tonight,” Linda reminded her daughters again.
Chloe said. “Don’t worry, Mommy. The only one embarrassing herself will be that village bumpkin Veronica. Her eyes were still red, not, yet recovered from the blow of seeing her music room smashed this afternoon.
Grace just nodded gently. “Mommy, don’t worry. Chloe and I will do our best.”
The chance to go 19 Weston Manor was something not only Linda treasured, but Chloe and Grace did too.
at Weston Manor had always kept
Although their family was technically a branch of the Weston family, because of Linda, the people at their distance from David’s family.
Chloe and Grace had never been acknowledged by Mason. For these two girls who were looking for boyfriends, that was not good news They had to secure the place of being Mason’s most beloved granddaughters if they wanted to marry well.
Chloe and Grace both believed that with their looks and background, they should at least marry into families like the Browns of Southford or the Harringtons of Northware to be considered a proper match.
The three of them were each calculating in their minds how to put on their best act at the dinner party as they went downstairs.
David, waiting in the living room, immediately set down his newspaper when he saw them come down. He went over to them, showering his family with praise.
He even mentioned to his daughters that Stephen, the head of the Harrington family of Northware, was in Cloudhaven with his eldest grandson, Alexander. He said there was a chance they might attend the dinner party at Weston Manor.
“Dad, is that really true?” Chloe asked.
Grace said excitedly. “Is it really Alex?
The two of them were overjoyed. They had just been thinking about marrying into the Harrington family of Northvare, and they never expected the opportunity to come so soon.
David nodded, looking at Chloe and Grace with fatherly affection. “Alexander came to visit our house this afternoon. Don’t worry. I’ll introduce you later tonight.”
“Really? Thank you, Dad.” Chloe smiled.
Grace said, “Dad, you’re the best. I love you so m much.”
The four of them were full of joy. Neither Linda, Veronica’s stepmother, nor David, her biological father, mentioned her. Not even a single word about Veronica came up.
At seven in the evening, the dinner party at Weston Manor began on time.
The party was held on the open lawn outside Weston Manor, and the guests were the top elite families in Cloudhaven. Under the interlacing lights, the guests raised their glasses and exchanged greetings in low voices, giving the evening an air of seamless harmony.
Mason, who had initiated the dinner party, sat at the head of the table in the main hall of Weston Manor in a tailcoat, constantly glancing outside.
At his sides, Edwin Weston and Gavin Weston were also looking out, Hoth of them were waiting for the cousin they hadn’t seen in eighteen years

Chapter 11
“Mr. David Weston and his family are here, the butler shouted as he ran in
Mason straightened up, tugged at his clothes that weren’t even messy, and asked Edwin and Gavin beside him, “Is my suit neat? This suit doesn’t make me look old, does it?”
“How could it? Grandpa, you look young and sharp., Edwin had clearly inherited Colton’s gift for sweet talk, laying it on thick without missing a beat.
Mason snorted, but his face lit up with delight. Just as he was thinking about what kind of smile he should wear to welcome his granddaughter. David walked in with Linda, Chloe, and Grace.
David said. “Dad, I’ve brought Linda, Chloe, and Grace to see you.”
Mason lifted his chin and looked outside. Edwin and Gavin also kept glancing behind David’s family, thinking, ‘David’s whole family is here. So where’s our cousin? We’ve never acknowledged Chloe and Grace as our cousins.
David was a little slow to catch on. “Dad?”
Linda’s eyes shifted and she quickly spoke up, “Mason, are you looking for Ronie?”
Mason, who had always treated David’s family as nothing, finally spared a glance at Linda.
Linda remarked, “This afternoon, Ronie lost her temper and went out, and she still hasn’t come back. I’ve been sending people to look for her this whole time, but we haven’t found her. I’m sorry, Mason.”
Putting on a show, Linda covered her face, pretending to be terribly sad.
Mason had already witnessed her vile behavior and didn’t believe a word she said. His gaze landed instead on David, his dishonest son.
David
awkwardly recounted what had happened in the afternoon, but of course, in his version, all the fault was pushed onto Veronica. As he went on with his explanation, the air in the hall grew heavier and heavier, yet he kept talking about how terrible Veronica was. Mason’s expression darkened. Linda quietly observed the situation, hoping to seize the chance to chime in and get some attention. But before she could say anything, a chuckle cut through her scheming and also interrupted David’s words.
Everyone in the hall turned to look. The very Veronica whom David had just painted as worthless was walking in
She wore a black off–shoulder knee–length gown, her hair casually tied up in a bun with a simple touch of styling. It looked simple, yet paired with her sweet and alluring features and flawless skin, it was perfectly fitting
What stood out even more was the lazy calmness radiating from within Veronica, a presence that made it impossible to look away.
At this moment, Veronica was smiling, her eyes striking, “I didn’t expect I’d be this despicable in your eyes” She walked up with a smile, politely greeted him as Grandpa, then turned to face David,
was not my
fault
Mason
She continued, “Why didn’t you mention it was your daughter who insulted me first? She provoked me, There was a faint trace of amusement in Veronica’s tone, her expression laid–back as she looked at David’s family across from her. David was at a loss, thinking. ‘Chloe insulted Veronica? How come I don’t know about that?
He turned his head toward Linda, who shook her head with tears in her eyes. Chloe, on the other hand, seized the chance to sob patifully, looking as though she had been wronged, saying, “I didn’t. Veronica’s just jealous of me.”
Veronica snerred, “Jealous of what? Jealous that you’re ugly? Or jealous that you’re the daughter of a…
