I quickly waved my hand.
“Officer, we are just classmates. We’re not close. I don’t know where she went.”
“As for her dad saying she came to my house to study, it’s ridiculous. The exam is tomorrow. Last–minute cramming won’t help. I don’t even have any exam prep books at home. How could she study here? Emily is lying!”
Noah and I had different stories, so the police asked me to call Emily.!!
I found Emily’s contact on WhatsApp and called her on video.
Before the video connected, Noah started again sarcastically, “Liam, stop pretending. I’ve called Emily countless times, and her phone is always off. You definitely hid her. Officer, arrest this kid and interrogate him. Find out where my daughter is if she misses the exam tomorrow, it’ll be too late.”
Just as Noah finished speaking, the video call connected.
Noah was about to speak again but was silenced by a look from the police.
As soon as the video connected, I saw Emily’s heavily made–up face.
The lighting around her was dim. Many people were moving behind her. A non–mainstream guy was holding her waist.
As soon as Emily saw me, she immediately complained, “Liam, why are you video calling now? I’m having fun. I asked you to come earlier, but you didn’t. Regretting it now?
“Let me tell you, there are some really cute girls here, just your type. Come quickly, or they’ll be taken.”
It was noisy on Emily’s end, with loud music. The non–mainstream guy beside her looked impatient and urged her to hang up.
I looked at Emily expressionlessly and said coldly, “Emily, the exam is tomorrow. Aren’t you afraid playing outside now will affect your grades? And your dad is worried about you.”
Emily sneered. “The exam is tomorrow, and I need to relax tonight.
“And don’t mention my dad. He’s just a security guard, always acting high and mighty. He annoys me!”
While Emily spoke, I glanced at Noah.
Sure enough, his face was dark. If not for the police, he would have smashed the phone.
Seeing the truth, the police officer approached the phone and said, “Ms. Jones, there’s a case of illegal trespass and vandalism here that requires your assistance. Considering the exam tomorrow, please come to Martint Police Station right after your exam to help with the investigation.”
Seeing the police officer’s face on the screen, Emily’s face turned pale
Immediately after, I heard Noah’s hysterical roar.
“Emily, you little brat, I’ve spoiled you, haven’t I? Going to a bar before the exam!
“Get back here right now, or I’ll break your legs!”
