Chapter 2
Not long after, I received my acceptance email for the graduate program.
The advisor was a titan in our field, getting his approval was a huge confidence boost.[]
After I told my parents, my family decided to celebrate at the city’s only seven–star hotel.]
I went ahead to the hotel to put in our order.[]
I had just arrived when I heard a mocking voice from across the lobby.[]
“Tsk, tsk. Riley Sterling, what’s someone like you doing here? This is a members–only establishment, you know.“]
Hearing the voice, I took a deep breath and turned.[]
Of course, it was jessica, walking towards me with an entourage.[]
She sized me up and down, her face twisted in disgust.
“Your clothes and jewelry are all no–name brands. You even have your name embroidered on them, I
lose them.”
“With your cheap, tacky look, you have the nerve to show your face in a seven–star hotel?“}]
Then, as if a thought struck her, her expression grew even more scornful.]
“This is a hotel, after all. You’re not here selling yourself for money, are you?“]
One of her cronies chimed in with a snicker.[]
you’re afraid you’ll
“No wonder you didn’t date anyone in college these past few years. Guess you were afraid your sugar daddy would find out and get mad, huh?“]
The hostess at the entrance seemed to be new and didn’t recognize me.]
Her expression shifted the moment she heard them.]
She didn’t say a word, but she subtly covered her nose as if I were something dirty.
I scoffed.
“Since it’s members–only, I assume you all are members?“]
Jessica shot me a look of pure disdain.]
“I’m a billionaire’s fiancée. With my status, a membership here is a piece of cake.“]
The hostess’s eyes lit up at the word “billionaire“.[]
no
Chapter 2
She respectfully began to lead the group.
“Where would you like to be seated? I can show you the way.“]
Jessica reveled in the attention, unconsciously straightening her back.]
“If we’re coming here, it has to be the Skyline Suite, room 888.“]]
At that, the hostess’s eyes shone even brighter.[]
“That’s our hotel’s most luxurious suite! Of course, with the billionaire’s backing, the cost must be pocket change for you.“]
“It’s just to reserve that particular suite, the membership requires an annual minimum spend of one million dollars.“]
The words “one million” stopped Jessica dead in her tracks.]
She hadn’t realized that just showing off by treating a few friends to dinner would come with a million–dollar price tag.]]
The hostess, leading the way, noticed Jessica and her group had fallen behind.[]
She turned back, hesitating.[]
“Perhaps you’d like to see suites 666 and 777? Those only require an annual spend of a few hundred thousand.“]]
A smile played on my lips as I chimed in.]
“You know, the main dining hall looks nice too. The membership fee would be even lower. A billionaire’s fiancée who even afford a single meal?“]
My taunt was all it took. Jessica, who had been hesitating, snapped.[]
“What nonsense are you talking about? It’s just a million for dinner. A drop in the bucket.”
Jessica then rounded on the hostess.
can’t
“What are you trying to imply with ‘666 and 777‘? You think we can’t afford 888? Well, I’m telling you, I want 888 today!“]
The hostess was stunned by the outburst, and though she was clearly annoyed, she didn’t dare show it.[]
She maintained her professional smile.[]
“Of course. I’ll arrange Suite 888 for you right away. Who will be taking care of the membership fee?“[]
With that, she produced a credit card machine and fixed her gaze on Jessica.
I saw her falter again and decided to add more fuel to the fire.]
“Don’t tell me you can’t cover it. Why don’t you let me have the room? My sugar daddy can certainly afford it.“[]
Unexpectedly, it was Jessica’s cronies who exploded first.
“Riley, so you really are a hooker. You have no shame.“]
Chapter 2
“Mr. Sterling himself arranged the engagement! They’re getting married as soon as the billionaire returns. Of course she can afford this.”
I narrowed my eyes, drawing out my words slowly.[]
“Oh, so it’s just a verbal agreement. In that case, you should all go back to the food trucks where you belong. Ten bucks a head should cover it.”
With that, I reached for the door of Suite 888.
But Jessica shoved me aside.]
She pulled out a credit card and threw it at the hostess.
“Swipe it! I’m taking this suite today, and that’s final!“]
