Chapter 3
The darkness wrapped around her like a suffocating net.[]
“Help…” Her voice was drowned out by the scary sound effects.[]
Suddenly, someone shoved her hard![]
Riley tumbled into a cold room. Before she could react, Sophia and several of her friends rushed in and locked the door with a CLICK.
“What are you doing?” Riley’s voice trembled.[]
The girls laughed coldly and slowly pulled out a remote control from their pockets: “We’ve been wanting to teach you a lesson for ages. Finally got our chance.“]
They swarmed her, strapping her into an electric shock chair and binding her hands and feet.[]
“LET ME GO!” Riley struggled, but she was no match for all of them.]
The moment they pressed the button, electric current shot through her body and Riley screamed in agony.]
“JAXON!” She instinctively called his name, “Save me…“]
Outside, footsteps suddenly stopped.]]
“Riley?” Jaxon’s voice came through, “Are you in there?“]
Riley opened her mouth to respond, but then Sophia cried out from outside: “Ow!“[]
“What happened?” Jaxon’s voice immediately turned panicked.[]
“I twisted my ankle,” Sophia said tearfully, “It’s okay, go find Riley first…”

“Find what Riley?” Jaxon didn’t hesitate, “I’m taking you out first to check your injury. Riley’s an adult, she can get out herself.“]]
With that, his footsteps gradually faded away.]]
Sophia’s friends burst into cruel laughter: “See that? In Jaxon’s heart, you’re not worth a single hair on Sophia’s head!”
When the electric current hit again, Riley finally couldn’t take it anymore and passed out.]]

When she woke up, she was in the escape room’s break area with a concerned staff member looking at her: “Are you okay? We found you unconscious.“]
Riley shook her head and forced herself to stand up.]
Rain was coming down hard outside and she had no umbrella, so she just walked home getting soaked.[]
Back at the apartment, Jaxon was lounging on the couch playing video games. He barely looked up when she walked in: “Where’d you go? I was looking for you forever.“]

Chapter 3
Riley stood in the entryway, rainwater dripping from her body and pooling on the floor.]
“Sophia’s friends tied me to the shock chair.“[]
The game sounds stopped abruptly.]
Jaxon turned around and looked her up and down, then suddenly laughed.[]
He put down his controller and walked over to pinch her cheek: “When did our little scholar learn to joke around?“[]
“I’m not joking,” Riley batted his hand away.[]
Jaxon shrugged it off and leaned in to kiss her: “Okay, okay, not joking. My fault for not protecting you and letting you get shocked as a game penalty.“[]
Riley turned away, and his kiss landed on her wet hair instead.[]]
“I don’t feel good. I don’t want to.“]
Jaxon’s eyes immediately went cold, but he quickly put on that careless smile: “Fine, we’ll wait till you feel better.“[]
The next few days felt like a silent tug–of–war.[]
Every time Jaxon got close, Riley would use “not feeling well” as an excuse to push him away.
At first, he was patient and tried to coax her, until the fifth night.[]
“How long are you gonna keep this up?” Jaxon pinned her down on the bed, his warm breath on her neck, his tone dangerous.[]
Riley pushed him away hard: “I told you, I don’t want to.“]
Jaxon’s face instantly darkened, and the door–slamming sound was so violent it made the windows shake.[]
They were completely locked in a cold war.[]
The standoff lasted three days, until Riley’s friend suddenly called.[]
“Riley! Something’s wrong! Check the school forum!“]
Riley’s hands trembled as she clicked into the forum. The top trending post made her pupils contract in shock.
