Chapter 2
After the house doctor patched her up, Fiona headed to Seth’s study. Time to print divorce papers. []
She’d find a way to make him sign. Then she’d walk away from this life that was never truly hers.[]
The computer screen flickered on. Fiona froze, staring.[]
The wallpaper was a family photo. []
Connor and Chloe’s first birthday. Back then, the chubby toddlers clung to her like koalas. []
The photographer tried everything – toys, funny faces – but their big, round eyes stayed locked on her. []
Adoration shining clear.
Seth stood beside them, one arm draped gently around her and the kids, a soft smile on his face.]
The memory hit Fiona like a physical blow. That same gentle expression… when he’d convinced her to do IVF.]
“I want it all with you, Fiona. A son, a daughter. But two pregnancies? Too hard on you. I couldn’t bear it. IVF… one step, perfect outcome.”
She’d believed him. When the test was positive, joy had flooded her – their children, a blend of her and Seth. She’d endured months of brutal morning sickness, the agonizing final stretch where her body felt like it would split. []
When the babies came, they wanted only her. Two years without a full night’s sleep. []
And still… her heart overflowed with love. Her own childhood was wreckage. She’d vowed to give her children everything she never had.]
Connor and Chloe thrived on it. “Mommy’s the best!” “Love Mommy mostest!” were their mantras.[]
But when they turned three, Seth hired a French tutor.
Slowly, they changed. []
They mocked her for “just” being a housewife, called her dumb. Though they’d always hug her afterward, whispering sorrys. []
Fiona brushed it off. Kids say things, Until today. The shove down the stairs. The chilling words.]
Her babies. The ones she’d loved more than life itself… despised her.[]
The happy photo, the warm memories… all just a cruel mirage.]]
Fiona printed the divorce papers with sharp, precise movements. As she went to shut down the computer, a notification blinked in the corner.
Seth had left a secondary account logged in. []

Chapter 2
One she never knew existed.[]
Her finger hovered, then clicked.[]
The account was a shrine to Eleanor Snow.[]
She was the French tutor. Online. I
Seth had been subtly poisoning the twins: Eleanor is brilliant. Mommy is… simple.[]
The latest video: Seth had booked an entire luxury hotel. His closest friends were there. A lavish welcome for Eleanor.]
Connor and Chloe clung to her.]
“Aunt Eleanor! You’re prettier than on screen!“]]
“Yeah! Aunt Eleanor’s better than Mommy at everything! Love you!“]
Seth didn’t stop them. His hand hovered near Eleanor’s waist… then settled there. Possessive. Decided.]]
Fiona watched, numb, self–destructive.
The perfect family picture. The one she’d never been part of. She was always the extra.[]
Seth brought the twins home late.
“Mommy, didn’t mean to push.“[]
“Me too! Accident! Don’t be mad, ‘kay?”
They looked up with practiced innocence, expecting her usual quick forgiveness.[]
Fiona just nodded, her face cold, empty. No smile.[]
The kids blinked, confused. Seth raised an eyebrow, reaching to touch her cheek.
“Does it still hurt?“]]
His fingers brushed her skin. Fiona recoiled, but not fast enough. The touch… the same hand that had held Eleanor’s waist… Nausea surged. She gagged, violently.[]
Seth’s face darkened instantly.]
“Are you pregnant? Again?“]
“We were careful. Too many ‘accidents,‘ Fiona. Was this deliberate?“[]
His voice was sharp, accusing.
“I told you,” he snapped, grabbing her arm, pulling her towards the bathroom. “Another child means less for Connor and Chloe. They need everything.“]

Chapter 2
Fiona stumbled. Her leg, already bruised from the fall, slammed into a vase. It shattered. Shards sliced deep into her skin.[]
She gasped, pain radiating up her leg. He didn’t notice.[]
The physical pain was a tight net. But the deeper agony was in her heart.]
She had gotten pregnant before. When the twins were three.
She’d been overjoyed. Ready to welcome new life.[]
Seth refused. “Last time nearly killed you. I won’t watch you suffer again. We terminate.” []
Connor and Chloe had thrown tantrums, refusing a new baby. Heartbroken; Fiona had the abortion. []
Seth took time off, caring for her gently. “We have our perfect boy and girl, my love. Don’t be sad.“[]
Gentle lies. He hadn’t feared her suffering. He feared his precious children with Eleanor might get less.[]
Seth and Eleanor got their perfect family. I lost my only real child.[]
The memory was a rusty knife, sawing at her soul.[]
And now… the pregnancy test in her trembling hand… was already glowing with the result.]
