Chapter 25
“Ma’am, that man is still standing out there in the rain. Should we let him in?“]
Sophie paused for a beat, then refused.[]
“Let him stand there. He’s a grown man. He can face the consequences of his choices.“]
Ethan tapped on the door, entering with a warm glass of milk, his voice as soft as ever.]
“Rough day, babe? Drink this and get some rest.“]
Sophie took the milk. Their quiet, intimate conversation drowned out the drumming rain outside.
Early the next morning, the maid rushed in.[]
“Ma’am! He’s collapsed!“]
Sophie dressed and went out to see that Matthew had, indeed, waited all night.[]
He was burning with fever, unconscious on the ground.[]
Sophie had him taken to the hospital.
When Matthew woke up, he grabbed her hand, his voice a wrecked rasp.
“Sophie… you brought me here… that means you still care…“]]
Sophie pulled her hand away, gently shaking her head.[]
“I sent you here because I didn’t want you dying on my doorstep.“]
“Matthew, I want nothing more to do with you. I’ve moved on. You need to do the same.“[]
Matthew called out as she turned to leave.[]
“In the future… could I see our daughter? I promise, just to see her would be enough.”
Sophie paused, then nodded.[]
“She is your daughter, after all. If you just want to see her, without disrupting our lives… then yes.“[]
With that, she left the room.]
Ethan was waiting for her at the door, and he draped her coat over her shoulders.]
Watching their display of affection, Matthew’s tears fell uncontrollably.]
He finally understood: the Sophie Harris who had once adored him, whose world revolved around him, was gone forever.]]

Chapter 25
Three years passed.[]
Sophie became a well–known entrepreneur, frequently appearing in televised interviews. With the backing of the Delaney family, her company, Dawnstar Technologies, was on track for an IPO this year.[]
Life was stable. Her daughter, Dawn, could now say “Mama” and “Papa.” Ethan doted on her, and their marriage was strong and happy.]
In those three years, Sophie’s life had been blessedly calm.]
Ethan took wonderful care of both her and Dawn, ensuring she never had to worry about a thing at home.[]
Dawn’s congenital coagulation disorder had improved significantly with careful management.]
During this time, she hadn’t received any messages from Matthew. It was as if he had never existed in her world.
One morning, as Sophie pushed Dawn on the swing in the villa’s garden, she spotted a familiar figure standing outside the wrought–iron gates.]
It was Lucas.
“Ms. Harris.” Lucas held a file, looking uncomfortable. “This is a small token from Mr. Wilson. He said… he insisted that you accept it.”
Inside the file was a blood bank donation agreement.[]
In Dawn’s name, Matthew had established a dedicated reserve blood bank at the nation’s top hematology center, complete with thirty units of her specific blood type and a specialist hired for long–term maintenance.[]
He must have remembered Dawn’s clotting disorder, fearing another emergency.]
Sophie’s expression darkened slightly. Her finger traced the name “Dawn Harris” on the agreement. Her voice was flat. “Thank him for me. But I will take care of my daughter myself. He doesn’t need to concern himself.“[]
She picked up Dawn and said to her, “Dawn, say goodbye to Uncle.“[]
“Bye–bye, Uncle,” Dawn chirped softly.
Lucas gave an awkward smile. He watched them walk into the villa before pulling out the phone that had been on an open call the entire time. “Mr. Wilson, you heard that, I assume.“[]
“Ms. Harris has raised the child well.“[]
On the other end of the line, Matthew sighed softly.[]
As long as she’s happy… that’s enough.]
From now on, there was nothing left between them.[]
