Chapter 19
In the following week, Reynald went to see Gabriella every day.
Gabriella was much more cheerful and smiley in the previous life. Her spoiled and bossy behavior, typical of a pampered little girl, was evident in every tantrum. Every time she threw a fit, Brandon would give in.
On the last day of her period, Gabriella secretly ordered ice cream delivery, but she was caught red–handed by Brandon.
The ice cream was confiscated, Gabriella turned and walked away in anger, Brandon quickly caught up and made sure she walked on the inside of the road.
“Don’t be angry, I’ll buy it for you in a few days.”
“What I wanted to eat was you, but the one who ended up crying in pain. was still you.“!
Brandon immediately cowered when he was glared at.
“Thousands of mistakes are all my fault, little ancestor, forgive me once.”
“Little princess, cutie pie, be good…”
Gabriella blushed and covered his mouth, glaring at him fiercely, while Brandon smiled and pinched her palm.
Gabriella also laughed and said, “Carry me back.”
“My pleasure.”
Brandon walked back with Gabriella on his back, the setting sun casting their shadows long as laughter occasionally rang out.
Chapter 19
In the car, Reynald sat in silence for the entire journey, lighting up a cigarette and taking a puff. It had been a while since he last smoked, and he coughed uncontrollably, tears streaming down his face.
He promised that if given another chance, he would not make the same. mistakes again. He would make it up to Gabriella and ensure she is happy for the rest of her life.
But now Gabriella is even better and happier than he imagined.
This was clearly what he wanted, but he just couldn’t bring himself to accept it.
If starting over again still means losing her, then what’s the point?
The next day, Reynald had a set of vintage gown delivered to the Hensley family.
Not long after, there came the sound of Gabriella’s surprised voice from
inside.
“So beautiful, just the kind I wanted!”
Reynald leaned against the car, with a smile playing on his lips.
At noon, Gabriella left the house.
Reynald lifted his head and locked eyes with her. He shook his head, dazed, until the cigarette burned his hand, snapping him back to reality.
“Gabriella.”
Gabriella frowned, “How did you know my name?”
“I know more than just your name,” Reynald chuckled. “Can we chat for a
bit?”
Seeing her alert, Reynald took the initiative to say, “The coffee shop next
door.”
“Okay, just ten minutes.”
Gabriella entered the coffee shop, chose a seat by the window, with a view of the surroundings to ensure her own safety.
Reynald laughed again, but his heart was filled with a bitter sweetness.
The person he is least likely to hurt now is her, but she doesn’t believe it.
Gabriella furrowed her brow as Reynald’s gaze did not waver from her for a moment, intense and focused, as if she was a very important person to
him.
Such deep affection, to someone she barely knew, only brought about. feelings of offense.
“You can speak now.
Reynald waved to the waiter and said, “Toast a little burnt, a latte with oat milk instead of regular milk, less sugar, and also a slice of Black
Forest cake.”
Gabriella froze. What he ordered was the thing she always ordered for
afternoon tea. I
“You…”
“In the summer, she liked to turn on the air conditioning to 19 degrees and sleep wrapped in a blanket. In the winter, she was afraid of the cold. and refused to go out unless she was bundled up like a bear. She was
good at cooking, but she didn’t have much talent for knitting. She could only knit a scarf that was crooked and full of holes.”
“Also, you liked the most…”

Gabriella looked at Reynald, he knew her likes and dislikes like the back of his hand, as if they had known each other for many years.
She unconsciously tightened her heart.
“How did you know so much about me? Do we… know each other?”
“Yes, Reynald said, looking at her with almost a reverent gaze.”
“Because I…”
