“What?”
“The bigger the scene she makes, the more you need to hold your ground,” Scarlett said, running a finger down his chest. ” You’re the Alpha. You can’t let your Luna have you wrapped around her little finger.”
“You need to show her who’s in charge.”
Her words made Rocco pause his frantic dialing.
“Caterina’s family spoiled her rotten,” Scarlett continued. “She thinks she can do whatever she wants, threatening to leave you.”
“But you can’t indulge her, Rocco. The more you chase her, the harder she’ll push you away.”
Rocco stared at his phone screen, Caterina’s last words echoing in his mind.
“We’re done.”
No.
It wasn’t possible.
Their Mate Bond was witnessed by the Moon Goddess herself–sacred and unbreakable.
Caterina couldn’t really leave him.
She was just angry. Throwing a tantrum, that’s all.
“You’re right,” Rocco said, taking a deep breath. “I can’t let her think she can just walk all over me.”
“Exactly,” Scarlett smiled, satisfied. “Caterina is definitely holed up somewhere right now, waiting for you to come begging. Waiting for you to panic.”
“If you go looking for her now, she’ll think she’s won.”
He nodded, the pain in his chest seeming to ease slightly.
Yes, Caterina was playing mind games,
She wanted him to be afraid of losing her, to cast aside his Alpha pride and grovel.
But he wouldn’t fall for it.
“Then let her wait,” Rocco said, settling back into the chair. “She’ll cool down in a few days and come crawling back.”
“It’s not like she can get very far.”
Scarlett lay back down on the bed, a triumphant glint in her eyes.
“That’s my Alpha,” she purred. “That’s how you handle a woman. You can’t spoil them, or they’ll never appreciate what they
have.”
Rocco stared out the window into the deep night.
A voice screamed inside him, an instinct begging him to find Caterina, to make sure she was safe.
But he was an Alpha. He wouldn’t be led around by a pouting she–wolf.
Besides, Caterina’s wolf would always belong to him.
