Chapter 3
Marvin’s bodyguards seemed excited, like they were competing to see who could make the loudest noise as they slapped me, treating it like some twisted experiment.
My face quickly became puffy and sore, streaked with blood and tears. that dripped onto the floor.
Still, I bit down hard and stayed silent.
The harsh sound of slaps echoed around the room. After every hit, Marvin would ask coldly, “Do you admit your mistake now?”
Each time, my throat was filled with blood as I forced out the words, “I… didn’t do… anything wrong.”
Fury darkened Marvin’s face, his eyes full of rage. Without another word, he turned and walked away.
“Fine. I’ll keep slapping you until you finally give in.)
I lost track of how many times they slapped me after that.
Luciana strolled up with a smug smile, her sharp nails grazing my swollen cheek.
She sneered, “You really don’t know your place. Even if I’m married, I’ll always be the one he loves.
“If it weren’t for your filthy background, you would never have a chance to even cross paths with him. Try dreaming again, and next time, you won’t even see death coming!”
My sight was blurred from the pain. But still, a faint smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
She didn’t need to warn me. I’d already chosen my way to “die.” Soon, I’d be gone without a trace.
That night, I lay in bed trying to recover, but Marvin still wouldn’t leave me alone. He tore my clothes off, not caring that I was injured.
him on
I really didn’t want to be tortured by him on my last night. Just as I wanted to push him away, a knock suddenly came at the door.
“Mr. Berman, something terrible happened to Ms. Luciana. She was poisoned. The doctor says she needs a full blood transfusion to survive. The only person with a matching type is Ms. Eleanor…
“If we don’t act fast, Ms. Luciana might not make it through the night!”
Marvin hurriedly got off me, but the moment he noticed the bruises and wounds on my body, he hesitated.
I just had a miscarriage and was badly hurt. Taking more blood from me now might be too much.
Still, he couldn’t let Luciana die.
So, he called in the best hematologists in Austin and ordered them to draw exactly one liter of blood from me, making sure to do it as gently as possible.
I was so weak that I collapsed into his arms, shivering. My skin was pale as snow, and the spot where they’d drawn the blood had already gone. numb.
His fingers shook, and his expression grew hard to read. “I’ll let you off for tonight. But don’t think that just because Luciana has your blood now, you deserve anything more.”

Chapter 3
I gave a faint nod and whispered, “I understand.”
Holding my cold hands, I dragged myself off the bed. After he left, I began to gather my things to leave the next day.
There’s nothing left between us, Marvin.
Around three in the morning, someone forced open the lock on my attic. A top assassin named Ethan Dester stepped into the room.
“Close your eyes and stay still for three seconds.”
A sharp, burning pain spread across my face. I bit down hard on the cloth. I’d prepared in advance, muffling the sound of my agony.
Three seconds later, I saw an unfamiliar, pale face staring back at me in the mirror.
“This look will only last 24 hours. Go now.”
Without wasting another moment, we rushed down from the attic and jumped into the car waiting nearby.
After driving for about half a kilometer, flames suddenly erupted from the attic I had just escaped. The whole floor was destroyed in the blaze.
Watching the dark smoke rise in the distance, I whispered quietly to myself, “Goodbye, Marvin.”
