The elder had never seen such a magnificent event before, which really gave Ryan and me quite a fright. Emma stood there, her mouth hanging open in sheer shock.
As more and more onlookers flocked over, the air was filled with the hum of conversations.
“Who is he? I’ve never heard of a Black Dragon like him in the Dragon World,” someone muttered.
“I heard he’s from Mistveil Peak,” another spoke up.
“Mistveil Peak? That god–forsaken place?”
“Who cares! Ms. Wesley is really lucky. Even a Golden Dragon might not be able to pull off such a show.”
“You’re telling me. With her bad rep, I wonder what she did to wrap this Nick around her finger.”
“Ms. Wesley sure knows how to work her magic.”
Nick glanced up at the gossiping voices and waved his hand. Those who’d been running their mouths went flying about 30 feet away.
“Too much yapping,” he growled.

In an instant, his cold expression softened into a warm smile as he turned to me.
“These are just small gifts. There will be more on our wedding day.”
“It’s already way too much,” Ryan said.
Ryan wiped the sweat off his forehead, looking reluctant to accept.
“Megan deserves nothing but the best,” Nick said gently.
I met his gaze, and those loving eyes were just as I remembered from our first meeting.
The wedding was a splendid spectacle. White lace and floral adornments were everywhere as far as the eye could reach. Soft organ music filled the air instead of booming gongs and drums. Delicate tulle veils fluttered around the pillars. A path of rose petals carpeted an area covering ten city blocks.
Nick’s gifts last time were already amazing, but this wedding took it to a whole new level.
The wedding dress he sent was made of the finest silk. It was a vivid red with golden–threaded patterns that seemed to come alive.
This was my second wedding, and my state of mind had changed

completely.
In the Dragon Clan, there was no tradition of going into the bridal chamber after the ceremony. Instead, the bride and

groom had to toast every table of guests to complete the wedding rituals.
As I looked at those hundreds of tables, my legs started to give
way.
It was all Nick’s fault for inviting everyone who came to watch the wedding, from all the clans.
Seeing me about to collapse, Nick quickly steadied me and whispered in my ear, “Don’t worry, honey. There’s just water in this flask.”
His voice, full of amusement, tickled my ear.
Sure enough, when we got to Norman’s table, there was no shortage of snide remarks.
“Sis, congrats on your big day,” Norman said, downing his glass of wine in one go.
