Emma’s face darkened in an instant, as if she’d just been given a stinging slap. Norman, too, scowled immediately.
The man said, “I’m Nick Butt.”
I gulped in a daze.
“Megan… Ahem, Megan, so, uh… do you like it?”
Maybe I was staring a bit too hard because an elder gave me a nudge to snap me out of it.
It wasn’t that I was smitten. The guy just had this really familiar vibe, but I’d never seen his face before, so I couldn’t help but gawk for a bit.
“Sort of, but…” Before I could finish my sentence, Nick butted in.
“I’ve always had a thing for Ms. Wesley. If I could marry her, I’d never let her down.”
I almost blurted out that I was pregnant, but when I caught sight of Norman’s grim face, I knew this wasn’t the right moment or place. I’d have to wait for another chance.
I said, “Let’s go and get to know each other!”

With that, I grabbed Nick’s hand and dragged him out the door before anyone could stop me.
Ryan shouted after me in a fit of anger, “Get back here! Have some decency!”
As I brushed past Norman, still holding Nick’s hand, I could’ve sworn I saw a flash of jealousy in his eyes.
Finally, I stopped in a deserted corner, gasping for breath.
Nick said, “Ms. Wesley, you’re being a bit too forward, aren’t you?”
Only then did I realize I was still holding his hand.
“Sorry, sorry.” I quickly let go.
“No worries.” Nick gave me a smile.
I had to admit, this dragon was drop–dead gorgeous, even more so than the Golden Dragon.
I began. “I need to tell you something.”
“Hmm?”
“I’m pregnant with another dragon’s kid!” I blurted it out, too scared to look at his reaction.
