Chapter 24
“Thank you, Gerhart.”
Latrina was kind of touched. No one had ever helped her pack up her stuff before, not even Sierra.
Sierra taught her to survive on her own, to handle everything by herself. That’s why Latrina fears nothing.
“There’s no need to say this between husband and wife.” Gerhart put his feelings aside, but accidentally noticed her red
“What’s wrong?” He walked over to Latrina.
eyes.
Latrina realized she lost her composure, quickly turned her face away, hurried to pull herself together, and tried to look more presentable. It was nothing at first, but when he asked like that, her thoughts sank even deeper.
“It’s nothing.” She choked up a little and wanted to leave, but Gerhart grabbed her wrist and stepped closer to her. She lowered her eyes, not daring to look at him, and couldn’t break free from his hand.
His strength was gentle, but still powerful.
Latrina felt a bit nervous and thought they were too close, so she tried to twist her wrist to put some distance between them.
Gerhart didn’t buy it and just wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his arms.
“Uh!” Latrina got so scared that she put both hands on his chest and buried her head.

Gerhart reached out his other hand and lifted her delicate chin, making her look up at him.
“Why crying?”
His eyes were full of tenderness. She looked just like she did that night, pitiful and begging for mercy on his bed.
Ar
His breathing got heavier, and the hand around her waist tightened bit by bit. The hot breath rushed down onto Latrina’s face.
“I didn’t cry…” Latrina’s ears turned red, not sure what to say.
“Hmm?” Gerhart waited for her answer.
She couldn’t say it. Afraid he’d laugh, call her childish, or think this tiny thing could move her. The excitement would vanish too fast…
She held back, tears in her eyes, pretending to be calm.
Gerhart stroked the corner of her eye, pulled her close into his arms, touched her beautiful hair, quietly kissed her hair, and just held her silently.
Latrina reached out and hugged him, holding him tight.
‘Didn’t like me touching your stuff?” Gerhart asked quietly.
“No…” She shrank into Gerhart’s arms: “This is pretty good.”
He let out a sigh of relief. He thought he had done something wrong that could make her cry so hard.
“Alright, go wash your face, I had something for you.”
“Okay.” Latrina quickly let go and turned to head to the bathroom.
Gerhart looked at her from behind, then looked at his clothes soaked with tears, and a strange heartbeat was bothering him,
He just realized his heart was beating fast, his ears were red, and his whole body felt hot, like he’d been burned by fire. He couldn’t help but smile a little.
When she came back, Gerhart was already sitting at the dressing table waiting.
“Gerhart,”
Latrina walked up, her face already back to how calm it was before.
Gerhart stood up and motioned for her to sit down.
She behaved and sat on the chair.

He opened the jewelry box next to him.

“This was a ring. I was afraid you wouldn’t wear it on your finger, so I had someone make it into a necklace ring. You could take it off and wear it as a ring after we went public.”
While talking, he took out the necklace ring from inside, and carefully put the necklace on Latrina.
Latrina wanted to speak, but she noticed the reflection in the mirror: the same ring on his finger. His ears flushed, and the hand holding the necklace trembled. He looked nervous.
His hand was really hot, and even an accidental touch sent a burning jolt through Latrina. The blush spread from her earlobes down to her neck. “Why were you so set on making me Mrs. Crowley?”
She had nothing–no money, no family background. She was just a low–level designer and totally not good enough for him.
“I didn’t dislike you. Feelings could be developed slowly later.”
Gerhart fastened the necklace, put both hands on the chair, looked at herself in the mirror, and thought she looked like a princess, noble and beautiful.
She had a face that people liked at first sight, beautiful blonde hair, big bright eyes, and a perfect figure. It was hard not to like her.
“I messed up and I have to take responsibility, so if you don’t like me, I won’t force it,” he said.
Latrina knew what he meant by forcing it, and her face instantly turned red.
“Aren’t y you afraid I’m the type to go after your money or your body?” She was curious. Do men like that even exist–guys who actually chase a woman to take responsibility?
“Then go ahead. I brought you in, you’re close to Kelvin, and I’m very familiar with you.”
“Huh?”
Very familiar? Did he already like her before?
She was a bit confused, but before she could react, she got scared by something Gerhart said.
“So, can I kiss you?” he asked.
Latrina got scared and turned her head to look up at him.
His eyes were deep, full of desire, staring straight at her red lips, and his goal was clear.
She thought, “Wasn’t that a bit too direct? Just straight up asked: Can I kiss you?
“You might as well just kiss me, that way the nerves wouldn’t last so long.
“Should I say yes to him? I kind of felt like maybe I was being too easy.
“Not saying yes? Felt kind of sorry for him.
“After all, we already got the marriage certificate, and we’d already had zero–distance contact, so I couldn’t just let them watch, right?”
A
“I was a little nervous… Latrina slowly looked away, and didn’t dare look at the mirror either.
She didn’t say no or yes.
She thought, “Even though I’d done everything with him, I’d never actually tried a real kiss.”
“It’s okay, we just haven’t spent enough time together yet. We can get to know each other first.” He patted her head and walked out of the closet.
He spoke so calmly it was scary, like he was asking, “Did you eat?” So peaceful.
She thought,“Ah! Do men like this even exist?!
“A guy
almost thirty, in the prime of his desires, and yet he held back. If it were me, I’d have just kissed him straight away.”
Latrina felt a bit restless inside.
When she came out, Gerhart was already in the study, busy with paperwork again.

She looked at the tulips on the table, hmm, really wanted to take them back…
Gerhart glanced sideways at her, thinking she was looking at him.
Both of them quickly looked away.
She didn’t dare stay. She grabbed the manuscript from the study and hurried out.
Gerhart curled his lips and gave a light laugh.
Just then Latrina came back, was about to ask something, but saw that he had a smile on his face.
This cold–faced guy had been smiling a lot these past couple of days, which was suspicious.
“What’s wrong?” He suddenly changed his expression, looking like a kid who got caught sneaking candy.
“Can I go upstairs and look around?” Latrina pointed upstairs.
Gerhart hesitated for a moment:“This is your home now.”
“Oh…” She nodded awkwardly, then turned and left.
Gerhart wasn’t in the mood to read the files and just stared blankly at the first page.
He held his forehead, sighed, closed the computer, and walked out of the study.
