Chapter 1
Latrina Glover woke up to find herself in a stranger’s bed.
Still groggy, she looked around the unfamiliar room.
Last night at the team dinner, she had a few too many drinks and then…
Her mind snapped clear. The man’s low, muffled groans still echoed in her ears, haunting and inescapable.
She forced herself to stop imagining the rest. She just wanted to get out of there–fast.
She picked up a torn white shirt–completely unwearable–from the floor and tossed it aside with her other clothes.
Then she noticed a new tailored business suit by the bed, clearly prepared by that man.
She changed into it without hesitation, although it wasn’t her usual style. After all, she had no other option.
Glancing in the mirror, she found that her neck was untouched, yet bite mark
patterned her skin elsewhere.
“What a ‘considerate‘ man,” she thought.“Trying so hard to hide the fact that we’ve slept together.”
Latrina let out a sigh, stepped out of the bathroom, and glanced around the room.
It was a spacious suite–too clean, too empty, like no one lived there. It didn’t feel like a hotel, yet it was eerily similar to one.
She grabbed the bag by the bedside and walked out.
Sure enough, this wasn’t a hotel.
Then a familiar man caught her eye.
He was sitting on the couch, headphones on, a laptop resting on a pillow across his lap. Dressed in black loungewear, he looked relaxed and
casual.
Hearing the noise, he looked up, his deep eyes meeting hers.
This man… turned out to be her boss, Gerhart Crowley!
“Wasn’t he renowned as an ascetic tycoon?
“But last night, he was wild–like he hadn’t had sex in years.”
Stunned, she was about to say something when Gerhart said, voice low and deep, “I’m in a meeting.”
Latrina didn’t dare to make a sound, understanding what he meant by that..
“Come eat breakfast.” He leaned forward slightly, nudging a glass of water across the table toward a plate of breakfast.
He didn’t notice that as he leaned, the hickeys on his neck were caught squarely on camera–right in front of his senior executives.
Latrina’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She knew those were her doing and was shocked by how aggressive she had been last night.
She really wished this were a hotel so she could just walk out and go home.
She sat down nervously, looking everywhere but at him. She sipped the water, like she was told, and bit into the sandwich identical to his.
‘I have messed with the wrong man,” she thought.
“Mr. Crowley’s known for being aloof and emotionally distant,
“I must’ve gotten into the wrong car last night.
“But come on, how could he not–notice it was the wrong person?
“Sleeping with his employee–doesn’t he care about his reputation?”
Fifteen minutes later, Gerhart ended the meeting, closed his laptop, and then casually started eating his breakfast.
“Sorry. I didn’t know it was your first time. Might’ve been a little rough,” he said. His tone was cold and flat, his face expressionless, like he was announcing decisions at a meeting.

Latrina, who’d just managed to steady her nerves, coughed and blushed again.
She thought, “What’s done was done. No need to bring it up again!”
“The family doctor will be here soon. Wait a bit,” Gerhart continued.
Only then did Latrina realize they hadn’t used. protection last night.

She couldn’t help but suspect he’d called the doctor in to give her a pill or something just in case she got any ideas about getting pregnant to go after his money.
She finished the water and moved on to the milk, unsure what to say.
He ate quickly and was done in no time.
Then he said, “Wait here. I have to head to the office. Kelvin will take you home.”
Latrina quickly stopped him.“Mr. Crowley, I can go back by myself. There’s no need to trouble anyone.”
“Are you blaming me for not being good enough last night?” he asked, glancing up with a hint of grievance in his eyes.
Excuse me?!” Latrina blurted out. Somehow, her heart started to race.
That was the last thing she’d ever dare to complain about.
She was at a loss for words, completely thrown off by his question.
For the first time, she couldn’t come up with a comeback.
If he weren’t her boss, she would’ve already told him off.
“Mr. Crowley, Dr. Buckley has arrived,” a middle–aged maid said at the doorway.
Gerhart didn’t respond, gazing at Latrina quietly.
Latrina was gorgeous, with striking features, smooth skin, and glossy hair.
Her figure was also flawless. She was the kind of girl any man would want to date.
Under his gaze, she grew more and more uncomfortable. Her already flushed cheeks now burned, and her body tensed up.
“Come with me,” Gerhart said, letting out a nearly inaudible sigh.
She followed him without a word, cowed by the overwhelming presence of the man who ruled the fashion world.
Back in the bedroom where everything had happened, she grew nervous again, even though the maid had cleaned it until it was spotless.
And her palms began to sweat the moment her eyes landed on that bed.
A female doctor walked in. Gerhart stepped out and closed the door behind him.
Latrina assumed she’d be given morning–after pills or an injection.
Instead, the doctor did a checkup and applied ointment down there.
It was humiliating to have a stranger witness the aftermath of last night’s passion.
Still, the ointment helped a lot with the soreness.
Latrina covered her face the entire time, mortified.
By the time she came out, Gerhart was gone.
Only Kelvin remained, waiting for her.
He was the same age as her–twenty–two. They graduated from the same university, were interviewed on the same day, and even started work
at the same time.
The only difference was their roles. He was Gerhan’s only assistant–and a good one at that.
Standing by the car, Latrina saw him grinning behind the wheel and felt her pride crumble.

She got in, stared out the window, and mumbled, “Did I get in the wrong car last night?”
“Yes, Mrs. Crowley–to–be,” Kelvin teased and then dramatically launched into the story.
“I’ve known you for ages, and I’ve never seen you drink that much. As soon as you got into Mr. Crowley’s car, you hugged him, calling him ‘Baymax, and started kissing him like crazy. You were wild!

“He had a few drinks too, but he was frozen stiff. You know how he is total neat freak. And you ripped his shirt. Buttons flew everywhere.” Latrina slumped lower in her seat, mentally replaying the horror scene.
the
“I was gonna take you home, but since you live alone, Mr. Crowley didn’t think it was safe. So he brought you to his place,” Kelvin added.
She forced a smile.
“So, you and Mr. Crowley…” Kelvin eyed her meaningfully.
her meaningfully.
Latrina was quietly grateful for how cautious Gerhart had been–not leaving a single mark on
her ne
neck.
“As you can see,” she said, gesturing to her unmarked neck.
Guess Mr. Crowley really is a gentleman,” Kelvin commented.
“Sure…” she drawled.
“A gentleman? Yeah right,” she thought.,
