Chapter 12
Benjamin returned home in a daze, finally unable to hold himself up any longer and collapsed to his knees. Darkness engulfed him, filling him with regret for everything he had done.
Someone who, in his understanding, could not tolerate even the slightest grievance, had suffered so much because of him, yet never uttered a word of complaint.
For half a month, he had never stopped searching for Rachel, not even for a moment. But finding someone who had already erased her identity was no easy task–unless she was willing to show herself.
But the odds of that happening were even lower than him finding her on
his own.
One day, Benjamin searched his entire house but couldn’t find their engagement ring, only then remembering it was left in his office at the hospital.
So, during his vacation, he made a trip to the hospital.
As he approached the office door, he heard movement inside. He paused, recalling that he had previously allowed Angelina to take her lunch breaks in his office.
Thinking of Rachel, he felt this privilege should be revoked. Just as he was about to push the door open, he heard Angelina’s sly voice from inside, sounding completely different from how she usually spoke to him.
“Thank you for the medicine you gave me. It worked well–it made Benjamin completely lose his mind.”

From the speakerphone, her friend’s voice came through: “That move of yours was really risky. You even put yourself on the line.”
Angelina replied carelessly, “If you don’t risk the child, you can’t catch the wolf. Besides, what was that? I think the trick with the photos framing. Rachel was truly brilliant. It really drove a wedge between them.”
Her friend praised her: “It could only be you.”
Standing at the door, Benjamin felt his mind buzz, as if all the blood in his body had frozen.
Inside, Angelina scoffed, “And that surgery–how could I not know how to do such a simple procedure? Now I’ve finally driven that eyesore away.”
Her friend said, “But Benjamin has been on leave for more than half a month and hasn’t looked for you even once. Aren’t you afraid he’ll change his mind?”
She glanced at her nails nonchalantly, “His father really likes Rachel, so he’s probably locked up at home getting a lecture. Give it a few days, and when he comes back, he’ll definitely pursue me officially. Don’t worry, when I marry Benjamin, I won’t forget you.”
Benjamin’s grip on the doorknob was so tight it was nearly deformed. The shock of the truth, the pain of wrongly blaming Rachel, and boundless. rage all surged within him.
Inside, Angelina was still lost in her unrealistic fantasies when Benjamin entered with a dark, grim face.
She heard the sound, spun around in alarm, and when she saw who it was, she jumped up from her seat in terror. Her face turned deathly pale, and she stammered, trying to explain, “Dr. Garza, I didn’t…”

“Angelina, you’re courting death.” Every word was squeezed out through his clenched teeth.
The hatred inside him was almost overflowing, and the murderous intent was so intense that Angelina realized he was not joking–he really might
kill her.
Angelina’s legs suddenly gave out and she collapsed to the floor.
Benjamin had always spoken to her gently and kindly before; she had never been so afraid of him.
She tried to escape, but Benjamin grabbed her and threw her back to the ground. The memories of what happened next were ones she would never want to recall for the rest of her life.
Benjamin locked her in an abandoned warehouse, forced her to take drugs, threw several homeless men in with her, and took countless photos of her. Her explicit photos were spread everywhere.
At that moment, Benjamin stood a few steps away, his voice cold as ice: “Didn’t you say that if these photos got out, you wouldn’t want to live. anymore? So why haven’t you killed yourself yet? There’s an abandoned high–rise right next door–do you need me to take you up there?”
Benjamin had destroyed her vocal cords, and now she could only make hoarse, guttural sounds.
Just as Benjamin was about to kill her in his madness, William appeared and sternly snapped him out of it: “If you kill someone now, do you really want to meet Rachel with blood on your hands?!”
Benjamin instantly came to his senses, shaking his head frantically: “No, no, I don’t want to, I don’t want to.”
He finally stopped himself and began searching for Rachel with all his
