Garrett had an ominous feeling in his heart.
Helena kept staring at me, never looking away.
“Third, to announce that Phoenix Montgomery is the sole heir to the Montgomery family!”
As those words hit the ground, the whole room erupted.
Three years ago, Grandfather Montgomery had put Garrett in that 28th floor office.
Everyone outside had spread rumors that Garrett had become the sole heir.
But now not only had the arranged marriage partner changed, even the heir had changed.
Everyone looked toward Garrett.
Garrett’s face looked terrible. He wanted to step forward and demand an explanation from his grandfather.
But his parents held him down firmly.
“You useless fool!”
“I warned you early on to keep a tight grip on the Aria’s family–who told you to cheat!”
Helena was furious, gritting her teeth as she hissed quietly.
“Did you think that without the Carter family, your grandfather would give up choosing your uncle to pick a greenhorn like you?”
Garrett was enlightened.
Only then did he realize he had made such a huge oversight.
Too much time had passed–so long that he’d forgotten he had climbed up on the Aria’s family’s
shoulders.
Seeing that the old master was about to step down from the stage, Garrett gritted his teeth and

dropped to his knees in front of me with a thud.
I was startled.
“Aria, I really was wrong.”
‘I was brainless and blind to make such a mistake. I apologize to you.”
‘I’ll fire Willow today! You know I just had a momentary lapse–I still love you…“‘
‘Let’s go get our marriage license right now, okay?”
The once high–and–mighty Garrett was now kneeling at the hem of my dress like a beggar.
“No.”
“Garrett, I never eat yesterday’s leftovers.”
Suddenly a group of police officers walked in from the entrance, heading straight for Willow.
“You’re suspected of intentional murder. Come with us.”
Willow’s face went white, and she cried and shouted to Garrett for help.
Garrett was also stunned by the scene–how could she possibly be suspected of murder?
“Garrett, her mother’s illness was fake. She did it all to get close to you.”
“But later, to interfere with you and Aria, she deliberately gave her mother a special drug, which
caused her mother’s heart to stop.”
“If you’d had even a shred of awareness, these things wouldn’t have been hard to discover.”
“But you were too obsessed with your gentle trap.”
Phoenix laughed coldly.
Only then did I understand what he meant when he said he would handle Willow.
Images flashed through Garrett’s mind of all the times Willow had sent him away during medical
visits.

And when her mother died, she hadn’t even shown him the death certificate.
Only then did he realize he had truly been deceived.
Overwhelming regret engulfed him, and he screamed as he rushed toward me.
But Phoenix kicked him to the ground.
The family dinner ended with the Montgomery family’s confession and repentance.
Later I heard that after Phoenix took over Montgomery Industries, his first act was to fire Garrett.
Willow was sentenced to fifteen years for matricide, and I heard she later committed suicide in
prison.
Phoenix and I welcomed a lovely daughter in May of the following year.
He carefully brought our daughter to me.
I smiled softly: “Our daughter’s eyes are like yours–gentle and beautiful.”
He kissed my forehead: “Silly girl, that’s because you’re in my eyes. You’re the gentlest and most
beautiful one.”
