When I was been told that my boyfriend, Lincoln Winston, who had been paralyzed, had regained the ability to walk, I left work early to pick him up.
But at the hospital stairwell, I saw Lincoln pinning his secretary against his chest, passionately kissing her.]
Behind the door, the girl’s intermittent pleas filtered through.[]
“Mr. Winston, now that your legs are better, you’re even more intense than before. Please, be gentle.“[]

But I also knew that what I had seen today–him cheating with his secretary–was just as real.[]
Noticing my tears, Lincoln stood up quickly, looking a little flustered. He gently wiped them away.
“Laura, why are you crying? Are you moved by me?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.]]
“Come on, don’t cry. This is supposed to be a happy occasion–a proposal!“]]
With that, he took out the diamond ring he had prepared and carefully slid it onto my finger.[]
I recognized it instantly. It was the custom–made ring he had spent a fortune on, engraved with both of our names.[]
At that moment, Lincoln’s friends stepped out from the shadows, each holding confetti cannons.[]
