Shortly after I got home, Knox called.
‘Want to go out? Ruby’s already put the kid to bed.”
What? In all these years, he’d never offered to go shopping with me, let alone just hang out. What
changed today?
Did he finally realize I was his girlfriend after all these years?
Was he feeling guilty and trying to make it up to me?
I didn’t have the patience for his fake games and was about to hang up when I heard Ruby’s lirtatious voice in the background.
‘Still sweet–talking your princess this late? Aren’t you tired? Because I am. Come give me a massage. It’s your fault I have to take care of the baby and keep you company in bed.”
Knox hurriedly mumbled to me, “Never mind. I’ll catch you next time,” and abruptly ended the call.
A bitter feeling rose in my throat along with the dial tone.
f only I’d been firm about keeping them apart from the beginning. Maybe I wouldn’t be in this mess.
The next day, though the wedding was canceled, Knox organized a party for the out–of–town guests who had already arrived.
I decided to attend–a farewell to my failed relationship.
Our college friends were chatting when they noticed Ruby holding the child.
Someone joked:
“Ruby already has a son? When did you get married? How come none of us knew?”
“Ruby, who’s your husband? Didn’t he come today?”
Ruby’s face immediately showed discomfort.

Knox gave me a cold glance before taking their son from Ruby’s arms.
“I’m the father,” he announced.
In an instant, all eyes turned to me.
People around me started whispering.
‘I heard Ruby and Knox were together first, but something happened, and he ended up with Aria. Doing the math, Ruby’s son is indeed about two years old.”
‘So that makes Aria the side piece?”
Hearing these rumors, I trembled with rage.
Trying to control my anger, I stood up to get some water, but Ruby deliberately stepped on the trailing part of my dress.
The next moment, I was sprawled on the floor, surrounded by cruel laughter.
My knees instantly bruised. The pain was so intense I couldn’t stand up.
‘Is Aria feeling guilty for being a homewrecker? Is she kneeling to beg forgiveness?”
Knox just gave me a disgusted look before turning away, letting everyone gossip about me.
I glared at Ruby with gritted teeth.
She wore an innocent expression, her mouth turned down, but her eyes couldn’t hide her triumph.
The anger I’d bottled up for too long finally exploded. I stood up, raising my hand to slap Ruby’s face.
SMACK!
Sudden silence fell over the room.
Blood trickled from the corner of my mouth, and my ears were ringing. Knox stood nearby, watching me coldly, his hand still in the air.
I stared at Knox in disbelief, then slapped him back just as hard.
“Knox, we are DONE. For good!”

Ignoring his stunned expression, I covered my face and quickly left.
At the entrance, I spotted a familiar man. The moment our eyes met, he noticed my swollen cheek and immediately frowned.
Without a word, he gently picked me up, placed me in the passenger seat, and fastened my seatbelt.

“I’ll take you home.”
Looking at his serious expression and hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles
turned white, I said:
‘Justin, let’s get married.”
