Chapter 7
I smiled mockingly: “Luca, you know exactly what I want.“[]
“Today is your wedding day, and mine too. Now, I’m going to get married.“[]
“Let’s wish each other well.“[]
As we got in the car, the figure in the rearview mirror grew distant in the rain until it finally disappeared.]
My ten years with Luca had finally come to an end.[]
In the car, Marcus controlled the steering wheel with one hand while the other gripped mine tightly.[]
“This is too dangerous to drive like this.” I tried unsuccessfully to pull my hand away and couldn’t help but remind him.]
As the head of the Stone Group, he was usually composed and dignified, but now he clung to my hand like a rogue.]
Marcus glanced at me sideways, and when his gaze fell on my reddened ears, his lips curved into a teasing arc.
“If I don’t hold you tight, you’ll be in even more danger later.“[]
I turned my face away to avoid his invasive stare.]]
If Luca was an ambitious wolf, then Marcus was a hawk waiting to strike–precise, calm, hitting his target with one blow.
Just like when he took me away, facing Luca’s men blocking us with knives, one gesture summoned fully armed police.]
Luca could only watch helplessly as we left.[]
“What are you thinking about?” His deep voice interrupted my thoughts.]
The cedar scent in the car gradually relaxed my tense nerves.[]
“Those police officers…“]]
He chuckled softly: “Since I promised to take you away, naturally everything is arranged.“[]
“I’m not like your ex who only knows violence. To deal with them, why use force?“]
On the leather seat, he carefully placed a lumbar cushion behind me.[]
This thoughtful detail made my eyes water.[]
Seeing I was about to cry, he quickly pulled over and frantically searched for tissues: “Is your back hurting? Let’s go to the hospital now…“]
I remembered those nights in the hospital when he let me grip his hand through the pain while wiping my
tears.]
The memory of his quiet devotion suddenly overwhelmed me with gratitude and something deeper I’d been afraid to

acknowledge.[]
At that moment, I reached over and turned off the engine. []
He stared at me in surprise.]]
In the enclosed car, only our breathing remained, and his increasingly rapid heartbeat.[]
I grabbed his tie and pulled him closer.]]
His body tensed slightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing, his voice husky: “Nina, looking at me like that… is dangerous.“[]
I met his leaning angle and kissed him fiercely.[]
Marcus’s pupils dilated slightly, then he wrapped his arm around my waist, closing the distance to zero.]
I bit his lip hard, as if trying to vent all the emotions I’d suppressed for years.]
The metallic taste of blood spread between our lips. I snapped back to reality and pulled away, but he cupped the back of my head and deepened the kiss.]
Body temperature rising, the air burning hot.]
The phone on the center console rang, accidentally hitting the answer button:]
“Nina, where are you?“[]
His kisses fell on my neck, making me moan softly.[]
From the phone came the sound of shattering glass and Lucia’s scream: “Luca! Your hand is bleeding!“]
Luca roared: “Don’t mind that! Nina, answer me!“]]
I was breathless from his kisses and was about to speak when Marcus chuckled lowly into the phone.[]
“We’re having our wedding night. She’s too busy to take calls.“]
I bit him again in embarrassed annoyance, and his suppressed gasp transmitted through the microphone.[]
Luca exploded: “Lay one finger on her and I’ll skin you alive, you piece of shit!“]
Marcus laughed lowly: “Looking forward to it.“]
After hanging up, he gazed at me and asked softly.]
“Wedding night first, or ceremony first?“]
I buried my face in his chest, my cheeks burning: “Up to you.”
He grinned mischievously and started the car:]
“Let’s get the marriage certificate first. I’m not giving you a chance to back out.“[]
