Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“What the hell are you mumbling about? It’s just a crappy Cadillac. How much could it possibly be worth?”
Tiffany completely dismissed my friendly warning.
“You bitch, are you trying to weasel out of paying?”
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you–if you can’t come up with that ten million, you won’t leave New York alive!”
O–M–G.
In less than an hour, someone had threatened my life twice!
This was something I couldn’t have imagined even in my wildest dreams since joining the agency.
Without further argument, I took out my phone in front of everyone.
“Hello, sir, it’s Riley.”
The voice on the other end responded cheerfully.
“Riley! Why are you calling me now? Have you met him? Are you satisfied?”
I shot a smug glance at Tiffany before speaking quietly.
“Sir, about the marriage–that’s a long story. But I need to report an urgent situation.”
“The car you lent me has been in an accident.”
“WHAT?!”
My boss exploded with anger on the other end, his shock practically bursting through the screen,
“Are you absolutely certain you’re not joking?”
I continued calmly.
“Sir, I wouldn’t dare joke about something like this!”
“The
person who hit your car is demanding $10,000,000 in compensation and threatening that I won’t leave New York alive if I don’t pay.”
After I briefly explained what happened, my boss was so furious I could even hear him smash a cup.
“Who is responsible?”
Just as I was about to answer, Tiffany snatched the phone from my hand.
“Hey, so you’re the backup this little bitch called in, huh?”
“I’m giving you 20 minutes to get the money together. For every minute you’re late, I’ll have someone break one of her fingers.”
My boss, probably stunned that anyone would dare speak to him this way after all his years, paused for a few seconds.
“So you crashed into my car, and now you’re demanding that Riley pay you?”
Tiffany, still unaware of whom she was offending, maintained her arrogant attitude.

Chapter 4
“Cut the bullshit! Are you paying or not?!”
I could still feel my boss’s rage through the phone.
“Of course I’ll pay! But isn’t $10,000,000 a bit low? How about I pay you $100,000,000 instead?”
“Tell me your location, and I’ll have the money sent over immediately!”
Tiffany, caught off guard by his explosive response, immediately fired back.
“Listen up, you old bastard–who do you think you’re trying to bullshit? $100,000,000?”

“If you’re gonna pay up, I’ll damn well take it. For the New York Trump Tower, I want cash–cold hard cash!”
After hanging up, Tiffany looked smugly at her boss, clearly expecting praise.
Seeing this scene unfold, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Mr. Grayson, you’ve really hired yourself an exceptional secretary.”
“She’s bold enough to try and scam my car. I’ve never seen anyone this brazen in America.”
Hearing my comment, Tiffany dismissively snorted.
“Whatever. I don’t care what kind of car you have. You’ve got less than ten minutes left!”
Just then, someone in the crowd shouted:
“Look over there!”
Everyone turned their heads.
More than a dozen armored cash transport vehicles were rolling majestically toward us.
