Chapter 6
Chapter 6
The man’s voice was like an ice–cold blade, instantly cutting through the noisy laughter.
The entire hotel lobby fell completely silent.
He strode over to me in a few quick steps, his deep eyes sweeping over the people holding me down, his tone ice–cold as he spoke.
“Let her go!”
His command was brief but absolutely undeniable.
The hands that had been gripping my arms immediately released me as if they’d been burned.
The smugness on Sage’s face instantly froze, turning deathly pale as she instinctively stepped back half a step, her lips trembling.
The words “Brother…” stuck in her throat, barely audible and filled with undeniable terror
Seeing this, a few of Sage’s cronies couldn’t help but speak up.
“Sage, with your brother here, what do we have to worry about? Now have your brother throw this delivery girl out!”
“Sage, why are you so nervous? Didn’t you say your brother spoils you rotten?”
“We’re just punishing this woman who caused trouble for the hotel!”
Sterling ignored the string of accusations completely, instead looking at my coat stained with wine and glass shards, his lips pressed tight, his eyes
filled with distress.
“Willa, why are you still like when we were kids, never taking good care of yourself?”
Following his gentle voice, I looked up at the man’s handsome features.
Only then did I dare confirm he really was that neighborhood boy who used to follow me around everywhere when we were little–Sterling
Whitmore.
Before I could say much more, he directly took off his expensive custom suit jacket and draped it over my disheveled form without hesitation.
His movements were gentle, as if he were handling some precious treasure.
“Brother…”
When Sage saw Sterling, all color instantly drained from her face. Her earlier smugness and nastiness vanished without a trace, leaving only barely concealed panic.
She tried to force a smile, but her voice was trembling.
“Don’t get the wrong idea–it’s this woman… she broke the hotel’s wine, and she’s here pretending to be…”
“Pretending to be what?”
Sterling cut her off, his tone carrying bone–chilling coldness.
“Sage Whitmore, you tell me my fiancée, Chairman Lincoln Lynn’s only daughter Willa Lynn, needs to pretend to be what exactly?”
His icy gaze swept over Sage and her pack of friends. Finally settling on Reed, who was trying to step forward to explain, his voice low and dangerous: “Why would you treat my fiancée this way?”

Chapter 6
“Fi–fiancée?!”
With that, Sage let out a piercing shriek, staring at me in disbelief, then looking at Sterling.
“Impossible! Sterling, she’s tricking you! She’s just some broke delivery girl! Her name’s Willa Lynn, and she’s Reed’s girlfriend! How could she possibly be your fiancée?!”
“She’s been delivering food for two whole years–I’ve known her forever! How could someone like her be the Lynn family heiress!”
Reed was also completely stunned by this sudden identity revelation.
He looked at how Sterling was protecting me, at the expensive suit jacket now covering my disheveled form despite being stained with filth, and at the undisguised concern and fury in Sterling’s eyes…
An absurd yet undeniably real thought hit him.
“Willa… you…”
