Chapter 8
It wasn’t until the officiant repeated: “Mr. Zane, do you take Miss Mara as your wife?”
Only then did Kieran snap back to reality, saying through gritted teeth: “I do.”
I don’t know if it was because I’d been looking toward the stage too long, but Dex rather stubbornly pulled my hand toward him.
Ever since I’d expressed my feelings to him, his possessiveness had grown stronger and stronger.
“Do you regret it?”
I shook my head decisively: “I just wanted to see how happy Kieran would be after going to such lengths to get what he wanted. Turns out it’s nothing special.”
Dex said nothing, then suddenly leaned down and kissed me: “Don’t look at him. Look at me.”
I was startled and looked at Dex somewhat shyly: “What are you doing?”
But I didn’t notice that everything we did was being watched by someone on stage.
After the ceremony ended, Kieran strode toward the dressing room, his eyes filled with unstoppable irritation.
The wedding with Mara was supposed to be the result he’d longed for, so why wasn’t he happy at all? Why was his mind filled with scenes from his past life of Riley marrying him?
Just then, sounds came from the nearby bridal dressing room.
Kieran walked over, and before he could open the door, he heard voices from inside.
“Mara, after you marry Kieran, you must hold on to him tight. All that staging shootings and disappearing wasn’t for nothing!”
Kieran froze, his hands actually trembling slightly.
Mara reassured her: “Don’t worry, Mom. I did all this to make Kieran love only me and never think about that Riley Cortez woman again. I succeeded–don’t worry.”
The dressing room door was suddenly pushed open, and Kieran stood in the doorway like an avenging spirit, radiating murderous energy.
He stared fiercely at the mother and daughter: “Say that again! Everything that happened before was staged by you two, wasn’t it? It had nothing to do with Riley?”
Panic flashed in Mara’s eyes: “No, no Kieran, I…”
But before she could finish, Kieran grabbed her by the throat: “Answer me!”
Fear crept into Mara’s eyes: “Kieran, I only did this because I love you. Please believe me, okay?”
“I really didn’t mean to–I did it because I love you!”
Kieran backhanded Mara across the face, his expression livid: “You bitch!”
He turned to leave, but Mara desperately blocked his way: “Kieran, where are you going?”
“What am I supposed to do if you leave?”
Kieran sneered coldly: “Get out of my way. Since you dared to deceive me, face the consequences. The wedding is cancelled!”

Chapter 8
The mother and daughter panicked and tried to grab his hands: “Kieran, please, don’t go, okay?”
But Kieran roughly pushed them both away. He only wanted to find Riley as quickly as possible and explain everything to her.
He had been deceived by that woman Mara!
But when he got outside, he discovered that the two people who had been downstairs were already gone.
He grabbed someone nearby and asked fiercely: “Where are they?”
“They said they were going on a trip and left early.”
