Ridley’s POV
After shouting her name, I coldly handed the phone back to Lynzee.X
Even though Agnes had toyed with me like that, the moment I confirmed she was unharmed, a weight lifted from my chest.
Yes, what she’d done this time was far too much. But as long as she was safe, I could let a lot slide.”
If she needed to be taught a lesson, I could always take my time later.
Ten years of love–no matter how much Agnes seemed like a different person now–I still loved her.
Even if I was about to marry Lynzee.
Even if she had given me two kids….
There would always be a place in my heart that belonged to Agnes
The Swicords could not be without an heir.
I had already given Agnes ten years. But since she had been unable to bear a child for me, I had no choice but to find someone else.
If she knew the truth behind it all, it was no wonder she would do what she did.
That thought darkened my eyes.
Now that I didn’t have to worry about Agnes’s safety, I could move forward with marrying Lynzee.
I turned and took her hand, and together we began walking slowly toward the wedding hall.
Because of my family’s status–and because Lynzee placed such importance on this wedding–I had eventually given in to her
endless coaxing and stubborn insistence. In the end, I’d agreed to her demands, inviting a great many guests.
The venue brimmed with the city’s elite; the celebration was lavish beyond measure.
My groomsmen stood together on one side, their expressions a tangle of emotions as they watched me and Lynzee.“!
But in the end, none of them spoke up.
Many of the family business partners knew I was already married to Agnes.
They knew for a fact that it had been ten years.
It must’ve come to a shock that here I was, holding another wedding, this time with Lynzee.
As they looked at Lynzee’s radiant smile, whispers rippled through the crowd.
“That woman really has some skill. Agnes and Ridley have been married for ten years, and she still managed to steal him away.”
“Right? I used to think Ridley was so devoted–never heard a single scandal of him, not even a rumor of an affair. Turns out, no man is immune to temptation.”
“It’s not entirely his fault. He is the president of the Swicord Group. An heir is a necessity. Ten years without a child from Agnes… it’s not surprising he went to someone else to have one.“}
“Still, this is way too humiliating for Agnes. Married ten years, and now Ridley openly holds a wedding with Lynzee? How is that acceptable?”
“Maybe they’ve been divorced for ages. Wouldn’t be surprising.”
The gossip slithered into my ears like snakes, writhing and persistent
Every belittlement of Agnes, every speculation about our relationship, reached me.
My expression grew increasingly grim. But there was nothing I could do.
These morons might not match the family company in power, but unfortunately, every word they spoke was true.X
No matter how capable I was, I couldn’t shut them up.!!
My face sank at that thought.
Lynzee had already given me two children.
I’d given her a marriage license and this wedding she wanted so badly.
Other than the open, formall title that I had not yet given her, everything else I had already made up for.
I had already planned it–once this wedding was over, I’d bring her two kids into the villa I shared with Agnes. And I would let Agnes raise them.
Just imagining that stirred an almost excited flutter in my chest.
That way, I could fulfill my duty as CEO of the family company while not failing either of the two women.”
I knew Agnes must have noticed something amiss lately.
216 AM p p.
In the past, she had been so kind–even to stray cats on the street. If she saw one, she would always make sure it was taken care of.K
A woman like that… For her to join forces with my rival enemy to kidnap me must mean she was deeply wronged.
But at the time, I was too furious.
I was mad that she treated her body and life so carelessly.
I was mad that she would lay a hand on Lynzee, not to mention Lynzee was pregnant.
I was driven by such an intense emotion. How could I not act the way I did?
Well, at least, nothing had yet reached the point of no return.8
Once today’s wedding was over, I would go back and comfort Agnes.
I would soothe her heart that had been wounded during this time.!!
After that, everything would be fine again.”
Agnes and I… Surely, we would grow old together.
