“All right, it’s my honor,” Jaelynn said, smiling gracefully.
After the meal, Agustin received a call and began preparing to leave.
“Ms. Norton, the collection is at the Calhoun’s mansion. I’ll contact you once it’s delivered.”
“Okay.”
After parting ways, Jaelynn changed his contact name from “Zain” to “Mr. Calhoun.”
“Jaelynn?”
Startled, she turned around.
“What a coincidence.”
Talon approached, looking concerned. “Javon is in the hospital emergency room. Didn’t you get the message? Why haven’t you gone to see him?”

“I’m going to the hospital too.

Jaelynn said firmly, “I’m not going to the hospital. I’m going home.”
The elevator reached the first floor

“Jaelynn, I know you and Javon are having a disagreement, but you can’t be so stubborn right now.
“You need to go to the hospital, or you’ll regret it later.”
“I’m not getting involved. His matters have nothing to do with me,” she replied.
Jaelynn didn’t want to waste time explaining. She pushed past Talon’s arm and left.

Javon finally left the hospital emergency room at 11 PM.
Jaelynn never showed up.
During that time, Shayla had stayed by his side, taking care of him.
“Mr. Bradford, the doctor said you need to eat something before taking your medicine. I’ll make it for you.”
Visiting for the first time, she showed no hesitation, walking into the kitchen and tying on an apron, almost stepping into Jaelynn’s former role.
A few minutes later, Shayla carried a plate of food upstairs.
Javon, having finished his bath, was resting on the sofa.
His gaze caught the familiar apron in the doorway, and for a moment, a flicker of anticipation appeared in his eyes.
When he looked up sharply, that hope vanished.
“Shay, don’t touch anything in this house without asking me first.”
Shayla bit her lower lip. “Mr. Bradford, I’m sorry. I was just worried about your health and wanted you to eat something before taking your medicine.”
“It’s late. Thank you for the trouble. Go home and rest.
He noticed Shayla’s hurt expression, paused, and then, meeting her expectant gaze, added, “Remember to put the apron back where it was.”

Shayla’s eyes reddened, a flash of resentment crossing her face.
Javon didn’t understand why he felt uneasy, but he didn’t want anything in his house to change.
He forced himself to eat a few bites and suddenly felt anger bubbling up.
Why hadn’t Jaelynn come to the hospital?
How could she be so cold and indifferent?
Suppressing his stomach pain, he ordered coldly, “Marcus, I won’t be going to the office tomorrow. Send out a notice that I’m unwell and postpone all meetings.”
He needed Jaelynn to realize just how serious his condition was and to make her regret not showing up.
Night fell.
The bedroom was completely silent.
Javon didn’t know if it was the medication, but he couldn’t sleep.
Lying in bed, the space beside him felt unusually empty for the first time.
Subconsciously, he reached out, but only felt the cold sheets.
The pink bedsheets, which Jaelynn had picked out, no longer held her scent.
Closing his eyes, memories of her flooded his mind.
His breathing quickened.

The news of Javon’s absence due to illness, arranged by Marcus, had reached the 17th–floor Project Department.
Yesterday, it was confirmed that the Calhoun family had agreed to lend the collection, and today Jaelynn finalized the display list.
Jerome nodded approvingly as he reviewed it.
“The exhibition project is moving along well, but this document needs Mr. Bradford’s personal signature before the publicity department can
start.”
“Okay, I’ll go find him,” Jaelynn replied, not wanting to delay the exhibition.
However, when she went to the president’s office, she found Javon wasn’t in the company, and his return time was uncertain.
By the next day, the publicity department was pressing her for the signed document.
Anxiety started creeping in.
Therefore, Marcus decided to call Javon.
“Mr. Bradford, Ms. Norton’s really looking forward to seeing you. When can you make it to the office?”
