Men had a way of understanding each other.
Damion had always had a crush on Jaelynn.
“Mr. Bradford, you’re mistaken. It was Ms. Norton who invited me today,” Damion said, his smile tinged with a hint of provocation.
At that moment, Logan and Talon arrived, sensing the charged tension between them.
“We’re all friends here. Just don’t make this messy,” Talon said, trying to defuse the situation.
He turned to Damion and said, “Everyone knows Jaelynn is Javon’s girlfriend. Don’t cross lines.”
Damion leaned back, grinning provocatively. “Do you think it’s Jaelynn trying to tempt me, or am I tempting her?”
Javon’s expression darkened instantly.

For seven years, from college until now, she had never left his side.
She was the most important person in his world.
“Mr. Bradford, you’re mistaken. Ms. Norton and I are discussing business, nothing else.”

Damion said smoothly, then added with a teasing note, “But with Ms. Norton’s beauty and talent, she certainly has the option to choose again.
“Mr. Bradford, is this childish display how you solve problems?”
Logan said with a smile, trying to lighten the mood, “Mr. Pittman, they’re just having a lovers‘ quarrel.
“You might not know, but Jaelynn is planning to marry Javon. Once the date is set, Javon, remember to send Mr. Pittman an invitation.“
“When I get married, I’ll definitely invite you, Mr. Pittman,” Javon said it with quiet confidence.
“Mr. Bradford, are you really that sure?”
Damion’s smile was sharp, competitive. “If Ms. Norton chooses to marry you, I’ll wish you both well. But if she doesn’t, then I’ll pursue her myself.”
“Hmph. You don’t have the qualifications, or the chance,” Javon said coldly.
Even as he spoke, Damion’s words lodged like thorns in his mind, impossible to ignore.
If Jaelynn didn’t choose him, who else could she choose?
He was her only option.
The conversation ended with a sour edge, leaving a bitter taste behind.
For days, Javon had been suffering from stomach pain.
During a lunch meeting, after drinking, the pain became unbearable, and he was rushed to the emergency room. Only Logan had the time to accompany him.

Seeing Javon pale and weak, Logan immediately sent a message to Jaelynn.
“Jaelynn, Javon is experiencing a stomach bleed at General Hospital. Please come quickly.”

Walking into the emergency room, Logan glanced at Javon’s ashen face and said quietly, “I’ve informed Jaelynn. Even if you two are still arguing, she’ll come to take care of you once she knows you’re unwell.”
Javon frowned but said nothing, a flicker of anticipation stirring in his chest.
Meanwhile, Jaelynn’s phone buzzed with the message.
She froze for a moment, eyes wide, then rushed out without a second thought.
Javon lay in the emergency room, receiving an IV, when the sharp click of high heels echoed in the corridor.
Half an hour later, General Hospital.
Javon slowly opened his eyes.
The door burst open, and Shayla ran in.
Javon’s eyes filled with disappointment when he saw her.
“Mr. Bradford, are you okay?” asked, her eyes red and tear–streaked.

as she ran to the front desk.
“Sorry, Ms. Norton, you’re late. Mr. Calhoun has gone out on urgent business,” the receptionist said apologetically.

“Then I’ll wait in the coffee shop across the street. If he returns, please let me know. Thank you.”
The coffee shop was on the third floor of the building.
She chose a seat by the window, giving her a clear view of the entrance.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a man in a suit take a seat.
She looked up instinctively, a flicker of surprise crossing her face. “Mr. Conner?”
Agustin smiled faintly from across the table.
