The rain was pouring relentlessly.
Even though Javon held an umbrella, he was drenched by the downpour.
The interior of the bridal shop was like a miniature wedding venue, designed to make customers feel immersed while trying on dresses.
Javon remembered his first visit.
Jaelynn had picked out several dresses to try on, and he had sat in the lounge area, buried in documents, glancing at her only once.
The shop assistants had been struck by her beauty, but he had just said it was fine.
He had always known Jaelynn was beautiful.
Having watched her grow up, her beauty no longer surprised him.
Besides, this stunning Jaelynn already belonged to him.
Javon, I don’t think the ready–made dresses are quite beautiful enough. I want a custom one,” Jaelynn had said, sitting beside him and flipping through design sketches. “Custom dresses take time, but we haven’t set a wedding date yet. Let’s make one. When I was a child, I always liked…”
At that moment, Javon received a call from the company.
Now, sitting in the shop with his eyes closed, he couldn’t remember what she had said she liked.
Marriage had always been something for both of them, but he had never really thought about it seriously.
He had never initiated it, nor refused it. He had simply assumed Jaelynn would wait for him.
As long as she was ready with her wedding dress and still waiting, it meant her feelings hadn’t changed, and she wanted to marry him.
“Mr. Bradford? Why are you here?”
The bridal shop manager, Briana Taylor, appeared and greeted him.
Javon gathered his thoughts, holding the envelope, and asked, “This was sent by your shop, right? Where is Jaelynn’s wedding dress?”
A look of confusion crossed Briana’s face. “Is Ms. Norton coming to see it? Please, follow me this way.”
Hearing this, Javon felt a small sigh of relief escape him.
The wedding dress was still there.
Jaelynn hadn’t given up on marrying him.

Clearly, everything she had said yesterday was just anger, empty words meant to provoke him.
However, Javon froze in shock when he saw the dress wasn’t hanging neatly. It was packed in a box..
He opened it, expecting to see the pristine gown.
Instead, the white wedding dress had been cut into pieces.
Javon’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“What does this mean? How could Jael’s wedding dress be cut like this? Did you do this?”
Briana, confused, hurried to explain, “Mr. Bradford, a month ago, Ms. Norton called to cancel the wedding dress. She paid for it but didn’t ask for it back, so she requested we handle it.
“We worried she might change her mind, so we sent a letter notifying the final date. Since we never heard back by the deadline, the dress was
cut,”
Javon stared, incredulous.
Hadn’t the letter said the dress was ready?
He unfolded it and saw the date for cutting clearly written inside.

The deadline had passed.
Briana asked cautiously, “Mr. Bradford, didn’t you know about this?”
Javon’s breath caught in his throat.
He hadn’t known.
He hadn’t realized Jaelynn could be so resolute.
Cutting the dress meant no wedding.
Was she really breaking up with him?
Hadn’t she promised to marry him?
In that instant, his breathing sped uncontrollably, and a furious heat surged through his chest.
He picked up the box with the wedding dress and got into his car.
His fingers trembled as he dialed Jaelynn’s number, only to find the call blocked.
Jael, what are you doing?” he muttered to himself, disbelief and frustration tightening his chest.
It was past three in the afternoon, yet the heavy clouds made the sky feel oppressive.
Javon gripped the steering wheel and drove through the rain, dialing Logan’s number again.
“Logan, Jaelynn really wants to break up
