Chapter 20

Diana didn’t expect to bump into anyone from the Gettys at the auction.
Not only did Aiden show up, but Emily and Laura were there too.
When Aiden made his first bid, Diana’s eyes locked onto them, a mocking smile playing on her lips.
“What are you looking at?” Howard asked, noticing Diana’s gaze fixed on a spot in the room.
“The Gettys are here,” Diana said.

Howard’s cold gaze swept to a corner of the room, and he said flatly, “The Getty family wasn’t originally qualified to attend the auction, but I heard Aiden pulled some strings to get an entry ticket.”
Realizing that was the case, Diana smiled. She was curious to see what the Gettys were trying so hard to achieve by getting in.
Meanwhile, Emily was gently comforting Laura, “Laura, you just got better, don’t get too emotional. If you see something you like, let your dad bid for it.”
Laura nodded obediently.
At this moment, Aiden was standing up and looking around.
“What are you looking at?” Emily asked, displeased, as she tapped Aiden’s shoulder.
“I heard Mr. Spencer is here too. I was hoping to see him,” Aiden said, frowning.
Recently, many of the Getty Group’s projects had failed, and they didn’t know who was behind it. But after Aiden learned that Howard and Diana got married, he had some suspicions.
He came to the auction today hoping to see Howard and probe him. If those actions weren’t directed by Howard, maybe Aiden could find a way to seek cooperation with the Spencer Group.
“Mr. Spencer?” Emily’s eyes lit up. “Is he really here? This is a great opportunity!”
Aiden glanced at Emily and asked, “What are you planning?”
“How about having Laura marry Mr. Spencer?” Emily said, her imagination running wild.
Hearing her words, Aiden was stunned for a moment.
Laura blushed deeply. “But isn’t Mr. Spencer…”
“That’s just Robert’s side of the story. The Spencer family didn’t hold a grand wedding, so who knows what the truth is.” Emily sneered. She had always looked down on Robert, thinking he had neither ability nor looks.
When Robert and Diana were dating, Emily didn’t interfere and didn’t take Robert seriously.
But since Diana left, Laura and Robert had been seeing each other frequently, which made Emily unpleasant.
Emily thought that if Laura were to marry, it should be to someone like Howard, who was wealthy, good–looking, and powerful. As for Robert, he was just an employee at a small company, not worthy of her precious daughter.
“Laura, when we find Mr. Spencer, you must use your charm to win him over, understand?” Emily instructed Laura.
Laura nodded, blushing, but then worriedly said, “But Diana…”
“Don’t listen to Robert’s nonsense. He’s just sweet–talking you! I didn’t stop you when you were close to Robert before, but now there’s a better option in front of you, you can’t give it up! You don’t want to lose to Diana, do you?” Emily said.

Chapter 20
Laura lowered her eyes, a cold glint flashing in her bright eyes. “Mom, don’t worry, I know what to do.”
Aiden listened to Laura and Emily’s conversation behind him, shaking his head and sighing. He also hoped Laura could catch a man like Howard, but Howard’s status was too high. Even the most prominent women in Emerald City combined couldn’t match a fraction of Howard’s status.
Aiden continued to observe the room, his eyes suddenly sharp as he stared at the VIP seats on the second floor.
“It’s Mr. Spencer,” Aiden said in a low voice.
“Where?” Emily asked, rising with interest, and Laura, blushing, also looked around.
“There.” Aiden pointed to the VIP seats on the second floor.
In the best seat on the second floor, a man in a white custom suit, with sharp, handsome features, was looking at the stage. Next to him sat a beautiful woman in a purple chiffon dress, holding binoculars, a faint smile on her face as she looked at the treasures on the stage.
“Is that… Diana?” Laura said, her face pale and voice trembling.
Realizing Diana really married Howard, Laura clenched her fists, her lowered eyes hiding a vicious and resentful look.
Laura, don’t be afraid,” Emily said, thinking Laura was upset, and hugged her to comfort her.
“Don’t worry, even if Diana really married Mr. Spencer, so what? There’s no news of his marriage, and there was no wedding. It shows that the Spencer family hasn’t acknowledged this marriage. Maybe Diana used some despicable means to get it!” After a pause, Emily said hatefully, “Laura, you’re so much better than Diana. As long as Mr. Spencer notices you, he’ll definitely fall in love with you.”
“Really? Am I really better than Diana?” Laura said, tearfully.
“Of course, you’re beautiful and kind, much better than that ill–mannered Diana,” Emily comforted.
“Okay.” With Emily’s comfort, Laura smiled through her tears.
At this moment, Aiden’s mind was also turning.
He hadn’t thought about having Laura marry Howard before, just wanted to find a way to make the Getty family and the Spencer family cooperate. But Emily’s words enlightened him. If Laura married Howard, the two families would naturally cooperate.
“Laura, after the auction, I’ll introduce you to Mr. Spencer. You need to make a strong impression on him,” Aiden instructed Laura.
Laura nodded, feeling happy. She could almost see herself leaning on Howard, with Diana trampled under her feet.
Meanwhile, another treasure was brought to the stage, which was a painting several dozen feet long, the one Diana had restored.
Diana put down her binoculars, watching with interest as people bid on the painting, her eyes sparkling, a faint smile on her red lips.
“Do you like this painting?” Howard, who had been watching Diana’s expression, asked, his lips curling up when he saw her smile.
“Yes!” Diana nodded.
“Do you want it?” Howard asked softly.
*No. Diana shook her head.
Hearing her respond, Howard felt puzzled.
