Chapter 13
Just then, Howard strolled in.
Sophia glanced up, snorted, and turned away, ignoring him.
Howard wondered what he had done to upset her.
Feeling a bit lost, he walked over slowly and asked softly, “Grandma, how are you feeling?”
Djana turned around in surprise. In her mind, Howard was always so cold, even his voice. This was the first time she heard him speak so gently, and she thought it was pretty nice.
Sophia leaned back against the pillow, holding Diana’s hand. She smiled kindly at Diana but shot a stern look at Howard.
“Seeing Diana makes me feel better,” Sophia said to Diana with a big smile.
Diana smiled awkwardly and glanced at Howard. Sure enough, his face was darkening, and he looked helpless.
So, Grandma, what do you want me to do?” Howard asked.
“Why don’t you both move in and stay with me for a few days?” Sophia patted Diana’s hand and smiled. “I’ll have Amelia prepare a room for you both. Just settle in and make yourselves at home.”
Before Howard could say anything, Diana spoke up, “Grandma, two rooms will be fine.”
Sophia said softly, “You two are already married, why sleep in separate rooms? It’s not good for building a relationship!”
Diana couldn’t argue.
She smiled awkwardly, wondering how to explain that in their apartment, she and Howard had their own rooms and only saw each other during meals.
They were usually busy with their own things and didn’t miss each other.
But looking at Sophia’s hopeful eyes, Diana couldn’t say a word.
Instinctively, she turned to Howard, who was frowning as if he was thinking about something.
Then, Howard’s eyebrows relaxed, and his cold gaze swept over Diana. “Since Grandma insists, one room it is.”
Diana had no choice but to agree, thinking of it as just having an ext
mate.
That was what she thought, but when night came and they were lying side by side in bed, Diana realized she couldn’t calm her mind.
The heat from Howard’s body kept transferring to her, making her feel like she was burning up. The faint scent of his body wash only added to her agitation.
Diana closed her eyes tightly, trying to lull herself to sleep.
She thought she wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight, but whether it was because she was too tired these days or because Howard’s presence made her feel safe, she quickly fell into a deep sleep.
Diana didn’t know that after she fell asleep, Howard suddenly opened his eyes. He turned to look at the woman sleeping soundly beside him, his deep ever growing even more profound and obscure.
While things were peaceful here, the Getty family was in an uproar.
Laura’s condition had taken a turn for the worse, and she was rushed to the hospital.
Emily was livid and kept blowing up Dianas phone, but no matter how many times she tried, she couldn’t get through.

Chapter 13
Emily quickly realized Diana must have blocked her number.
Thinking of this, Emily didn’t waste any time and ran upstairs to bang on Jasper’s door. “Jasper, Laura’s condition has worsened. Call Diana and tell her to get back here immediately!”
Jasper was stunned, his sleepiness vanishing.
“No way, I won’t let you hurt Diana again!” Jasper said, his face grim.
“Jasper, get it straight, Laura is your sister! She’s lived with us for so many years, doesn’t that count for more than the few years Diana has been with us?” Emily shouted.
Jasper rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. “Mom, Diana is your biological daughter, my biological sister.”
“She is not!” Emily screamed, losing control. “My daughter is only Laura, not that ill–mannered woman! Jasper, are you going to call her or not?”
“No!”
“You have no heart!” Emily’s eyes reddened, and her sharp gaze fell on a phone by the bed.
Her eyes lit up, and she rushed over.
“Mom!” Jasper, mindful that Emily was his mother, didn’t dare to use force. He was a step too slow and couldn’t get the phone back, only watching helplessly as Emily used his phone to make the call.
The call was quickly answered.
Jasper?” Diana’s voice was hoarse, still tinged with sleepiness.

*Diana, get your ass back here! Laura’s condition has worsened!” Emily shouted into the phone.
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
Then, Diana’s cold, mocking laughter came through the phone, making Emily furious. “It’s none of my business.”
“Laura urgently needs your kidney! Come back and sign the surgery consent form, and maybe I’ll treat you better afterward!” Emily knew how carefully Diana had tried to please them over the years since she returned home, but looking at this unfamiliar, unruly daughter, Emily’s heart still leaned towards Laura, whom she had raised for twenty years.
In Emily’s eyes, Diana was just a tool to provide a kidney for Laura.
Meanwhile, Diana was wide awake and suddenly burst into laughter

“Emily, you disgust me!” Diana sneered. “I won’t come back! Whether L
lives or dies has nothing to do with me!
“Diana, you…” Before Emily could curse more, Diana hung up.
Seeing Jasper continue to call, Diana hesitated for a moment before blocking him.
Diana thought, ‘Jasper, sorry. I’ll unblock you in a few days.”
Diana silently put away her phone and sighed deeply.
When she turned around, she unexpectedly met a pair of deep eyes.
Diana was slightly stunned. “When did you wake up?”
“When you called out Jasper’s name, Howard said with a faint smile.
Realizing he had heard everything from the beginning. Diana smiled awkwardly at Howard, not knowing what to say for a moment.
