The car door slammed shut, and Jax Ryder got back in.
I was about to remove the jacket, but he grabbed my wrist.
Then my vision suddenly cleared as the soft fabric wrapped around both my wrists, pinning them above my head.

The boy leaned closer, inch by inch, his features becoming dazzlingly beautiful in the reduced distance.
But his eyes held obvious displeasure:
“What a coincidence, Sister. Is this your cheating husband?”
The proximity made the coldness between his raised brows even more distinct.
In this incredibly intimate position, I couldn’t help but give a helpless laugh:
“What’s the difference between him and me?”
Jax Ryder didn’t say anything else, just kissed me with a touch of force.
The familiar scent of blue eucalyptus, mixed with the crispness of rain, gradually filled every inch of the car.
And silently, enveloped me.
It wasn’t until my thoughts were gradually lost in the swirling tide that I heard his voice:
“At least, your taste is much better than his.”
“Eve, you chose me.”
Outside the car, the rain fell steadily.
Inside, the damp, hazy mist was like an overwhelming downpour.
Jax Ryder’s place wasn’t far, a thirty–minute drive.
The moment we entered, he grabbed my shoulders.
The next second, his lips sealed mine, grinding against them with an almost savage force.
“I’ll be gentle.”

He said, “It won’t hurt.”
His scorching breath fanned my neck, moving downwards, as his hand powerfully pressed against the prominent butterfly bones on my back.
But then, he stopped abruptly when he felt the uneven scars.
“…What’s this?”
His breathing suddenly quickened.
“Did he lay his hands on you?”
I froze for a second, then understood.
He was talking about those old whip marks.
I laughed, dismissively: “No.”
“No matter what, with both families having collaborations, he wouldn’t go that far..”
I didn’t finish the sentence.
Because his passionate, even reckless kiss completely sealed my lips.
