I whipped my head around.
I saw the boy push past a throng of cameras and reporters, walking through the crowd
with a cool, detached expression.
He truly possessed an exceptionally striking face; his brows were sharp, and when
slightly lowered, his presence grew even more commanding.
But when he focused on me and smiled, his eyes seemed to light up with a momentary
sparkle.
He walked straight to me, lowered his head slightly, and patiently smoothed the stray strands of hair by my ear.
Then, with an intimate tone, he called out: “Sister.”
Alex suddenly stood up, his eyes slowly filling with disbelief.

He said, furious and shocked
That night, the person in the cat, was it “you ?!”
Chloe, who was clinging to his arm, probably realized something, and her smile immediately became forced.
She accused mec
“Sister Eve, you’re actually having an affair while married? Don’t you think you’re going
too far?”
Jax Ryder stood beside me, his hand resting on my shoulder, almost pressing against
me
My phone vibrated twice in my clutch bag.
I took it out and saw a message from Maya:
“Ms. Cross, everything went smoothly. The contract has just been signed.”
The knot of unease in my heart instantly dissolved, quiet as spring snow meting.
I slowly exhaled, straightened my body, and looked at Chloe.
“You know what? You’re the last person who has the right to say that.”
I curved my eyes, then turned my gaze to Alex beside her.
“You like young, pretty, and obedient. I like that too. What’s so strange about it?”
Jax Ryder’s hand on my shoulder tightened slightly.
He looked at Alex and gave a cold laugh:
“If you were attractive enough for her, would I have been able to swoop in?”
Alex let out a sharp cry: “Eve!”
<
“Shouting, shouting, all you do is shout.”
Jax Ryder was tall and slender, standing half a head taller than Alex.
He looked down at Alex, his contempt clear.
“When something goes wrong, all you do is question Eve. Why don’t you reflect on yourself? Look at the wrinkles on your face, your drooping eyes, and you can’t even speak like a human being, you old man. What makes you think you can compare to me?”
Being publicly humiliated by a boy ten years his junior, Alex’s face was ashen.
Emotions surged in his eyes, but ultimately, he looked at me.
Using the same old threat he’d used countless times before:
“From now on, Thome Enterprises will no longer partner with the Hardings…”
“Who cares?”
1 abruptly cut him off, a mocking smile slowly spreading across my lips.
“Instead of that, why don’t you hurry up and ask your people why this quarter’s
five–nation trade collaboration contract wasn’t signed and ended up going to someone else instead?”
