He still carried the chill of the late autumn night.
Yet, the boy’s body heat was scorching, and his kisses, reckless and fierce, pressed
against me.
“Sister, you spoke so harshly. I actually thought you meant it.”
“You weren’t serious, those words were just for me…”
I still hadn’t fully sobered up. I frowned, pinching his chin.
“Too loud.”
“Just do it, no more talking.”
Jax Ryder’s movements abruptly stopped.
A moment later, he curved his lips, slowly, pulling back into a beautiful, extremely dangerous smile:
“Sister, you said it.”
The night wind suddenly picked up, rippling the autumn waters.
In the end, I clung to Jax Ryder’s shoulders, trembling uncontrollably.

Looking at his palm bathed in light, it felt like a rapid stream was flowing over it.
When Alex’s call came in, my entire body tensed.

Jax Ryder gasped, pressing down on my hand as I moved to hang up, and answered the
call.
“Eve, you went back to the Hardings, got a beating, and still haven’t figured out how to make me less angry?”
Alex’s voice held a hint of drunkenness.
“Forget it… I’ll give you a chance.”
“I’m at the Nightshade Bar. Come pick me up.”
“I…”
The words “I’m busy” hadn’t even left my lips.
A sudden surge of force from behind jolted me, throwing my breathing into disarray.
Even biting my lip fiercely, I couldn’t stop a few ambiguous gasps from escaping.
Alex’s tone changed drastically: “What are you doing?”
But I could no longer form complete sentences. Only after Jax Ryder eased his grip, I
used my trembling fingers to hang up the phone.
Jax Ryder chuckled softly, his breath hot as he whispered in my ear:
“Sister… now, this time is completely mine.”
