Nathaniel ran his fingers through Estella’s hair, his mood lifting as he stepped into the elevator, unfazed by her furious glare.
Estella was so enraged that her breathing turned uneven. She yanked a wet wipe from her bag and scrubbed her face with force,
Not far away, Isabelle stood frozen, jealousy burning in her eyes as she took in the intimate moment between Nathaniel and Estella.
She had tried calling Nathaniel early in the morning, but he never picked up.
Fortunately, she had bribed his driver in advance. The moment she learned he was at the hospital, she discreetly followed him here.
She never expected Estella to still have the audacity to entangle herself with Nathaniel.
Fury churned inside her, uncontrollable and seething. She strode forward and seized Estella’s wrist.
“Estella, do you have no shame? You’re already divorced from Nathaniel! Why are you still clinging to him?”
Estella eyed her as if she had lost her mind, the corner of her lips curling in mockery. “Which eye of yours saw me clinging to /him?”
She yanked her hand free and scoffed. “If anything, I should be asking you to keep a tighter leash on him. Don’t let him come pestering me. I have absolutely no interest in Nathaniel now. If you like him so much, then hold on to him for dear life. Keep him away from me! I don’t need him disrupting my peace.”
With that, she turned and walked away.
Isabelle clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, resentment burning in her chest with no outlet.
She returned to her car and dialed Chase’s orchestra director, Bernard Quinn.
“Mr. Bernard, it’s me.”
Bernard straightened immediately upon hearing Isabelle’s voice, “Ms. Isabelle, what can I do for you?”
The Monroe family had poured an immense amount of money into the orchestra. They were its financial backbone, and he couldn’t afford to neglect them.
On top of that, Isabelle had wined and dined him multiple times, offering him generous benefits. Naturally, he was more than willing to do her bidding.
Isabelle got straight to the point. “The orchestra is holding auditions for new members, right? I need you to keep an eye out for someone named Estella Hayes. If she applies, delete her application. Can you do that?”
Bernard hesitated.
Deleting someone’s audition file was a flagrant misuse of authority.
But since it was Isabelle making the request, he had no choice.
“Of course, no problem. Ms. Isabelle, rest assured, I’ll take care of it.”
Isabelle was pleased with his obedience and said smoothly, “Once the job’s done, I’ll give you an apartment in downtown Javerton.”
Bernard was overjoyed and hastily expressed his gratitude.
After hanging up, Isabelle smirked in satisfaction.
She didn’t believe Estella had what it took to surpass her, but nothing in life was absolute. It was always better to eliminate risks in advance.

Chase exited the practice room and ran into Jonathan.
The former offered a composed smile. “I was just about to have dinner with Jeremy. Care to join us?”
Jonathan nodded. “Sure.”
The two headed to a Parsille restaurant together.
Upon spotting Jonathan, Jeremy arched a brow. “I’ve been asking you to grab a meal with me for the past two days, and you kept turning me down. Now, you suddenly show up? That’s rare.”
Jonathan merely smiled and remained silent.
After finishing their meal, Chase swirled the red wine in his glass before asking, “You sought me out today. Is there something on your mind?”
Td like to ask you for a favor. Mr. Chase,” Jonathan said evenly.
Oh? And what might that be?” Chase set down his wine glass.
Jeremy, intrigued, turned his gaze to Jonathan.
Jonathan had always been indifferent to personal matters, yet now he was seeking someone’s help.
“I want to invest in your orchestra personally, Mr. Chase. In exchange, I’d like you to guarantee Estella a spot, regardless of whether she wins first place in the audition or not. I know this request is somewhat excessive, but for the sake of the longstanding ties between our families, I hope you’ll consider it.”
Chase was momentarily taken aback. Then, realization dawned on him, and he erupted into laughter. “I thought you were different from your dad and brother, but it turns out you’re a true Bennett, hopelessly devoted.”
Jeremy smirked playfully. “So, do you really have feelings for this Estella? Looks like I should inform Mom. She’d be thrilled
to hear this news.”
Jonathan cast his brother a sharp look, his tone carrying a trace of warning. “Jeremy, if I recall correctly, when you were sixteen, you dressed as a ghost outside Mia’s window to scare her into staying at our house for months. Should I remind Mia about that?”
Jeremy had resorted to plenty of underhanded tactics back when he was courting Mia.
Hearing Jonathan unearth his past misdeeds, he raised his hands in surrender. “Fine, I won’t say anything, alright?”
Chase chuckled. “I understand you want Ms. Hayes to have a promising future, but I have to be fair in how I handle things.” “Mr. Chase… Jonathan began, attempting to persuade him further.
Chase waved a hand, cutting him off. “Let me finish. Based on Ms. Hayes’s ability, I doubt she even needs your intervention. I firmly believe she’s more than capable of securing first place on her own.”
Jeremy was visibly surprised. “Mr. Chase, you rarely speak so highly of young musicians. Is Estella really that outstanding?” Chase leaned back, his tone assured. “Three years ago, I had already wanted to take her as my student, but I missed the opportunity. Now, after all this time, she’s circling back to our orchestra. It seems she was always meant to be my student.”
