Chapter 10
Children can’t hide their feelings for long. After breakfast, Theo looked at Edward and said it outright.
Edward thought for a moment, then called Grace Miller’s number.
No answer.
He forced a smile. “Mom’s probably busy. We’ll try again later.”
But soon, Theo wouldn’t get another chance to call.
His schedule quickly filled up.
Edward’s father was not satisfied with his grandson, believing he had much to learn.
After a grueling day of etiquette training, posture correction, and study, Theo was exhausted.
His body ached all over.
After his bath, he lay on the bed and whined, “Dad, my legs hurt. Rub them for me.”
Edward tried, but it wasn’t the same.
Theo grimaced. “Should I call Amelia?”
Theo shook his head.
“She doesn’t know how either.”
“Only Mom does.”
Edward fell silent.

“When I had a fever, Mom would hold me and tell me stories.”
Edward stroked his hair. “What do you want to hear?”
“Tell me about you and Mom, perhaps.”
Him and Grace?
It was a cliché story.
He’d gone hiking and fallen off a cliff. Grace found him and paid to have him driven over a hundred miles back to the village.
His leg was broken. He lost his memory and had nowhere to go, so he followed her home.
Grace gave him the name “Ben.”
She grumbled a lot but treated him every day with acupuncture until his leg healed.

Then one day, he overheard some villagers gossiping, saying no man would want Grace now qripple?
And him? He couldn’t even carry a bucket of water. Useless.
Grace had gotten furious. “He’s already been through so much, and you still talk like that?” Chapter 10

“He’s educated, and he speaks so well. I’m glad to take care of him!”
That made Edward angry too–so, on impulse, he proposed to her.
He regretted it immediately.
He had a feeling he would eventually leave this place.
But when he saw Grace’s blushing face, the regret vanished.

He thought – It’s okay. He’ll take her with him when the time comes.
Later, Grace gave birth to Theo. Her youthful figure and delicate skin were gone. Hulk W Y Z
Her belly bore obvious stretch marks.
She wasn’t the charming girl he once knew.
She argued loudly over pennies with neighbors, just like any rural woman.
Edward began to grow tired of her.
Then Amelia came into his life.
Sometimes he couldn’t help but think if only it had been Amelia who
ved him.
He didn’t think Grace was a good mother either.
She never paid attention to Theo’s schoolwork and only scolded him after trouble had already happened.
But she spoiled him in every other way.
Edward knew Grace wasn’t fit to raise the heir of the Kensingtons, nor be the matriarch of the family.
So he used his mother as an excuse and cruelly abandoned her to take Amelia instead.
He told himself Amelia should get out of that mountain village.
But now, because of Theo, old memories stirred again.
And he realized Grace used to be a very lovable girl.

His gaze grew more resolute.
He looked at Theo and said, “In a few days, we’ll go back to visit her.‘
