Chapter 13
Reynald was struck hard, his lips moved but he couldn’t say a word.
In front of his eyes appeared Gabriella, whom he had met on the day of the tomb sweeping.
Her hair was messy, with scratches and bloodstains on her face and hands. Her eyes were bloodshot, and her thin body swayed in the wind.
She just wanted to be buried closer to her mother after she died.
But he said, “Addicted to showing off? Fine, just pretend you really want to die…”
“You don’t even deserve a burial, you should be crushed to dust.”
Gabriella was quiet for a while, “Okay, I’ll listen to you.”
He used to say things without a care, but now those words came back to haunt him, tearing a bloody hole in his heart.
Reynald’s breathing became more rapid, but the feeling of suffocation was always present.
“Mr. Dalloz.”
He looked up blankly, facing Gwen’s mocking and cold.
eyes.
“Congratulations on being discharged from the hospital, and…
“You must live a long and healthy life, just like Gabriella said.”
Live to be a hundred years old.
These four words were also said by Gabriella on her birthday, and only

now, Reynald knows their true meaning.

Reynald was in a daze, standing still in the spot even when Gwen left.
“Rey, don’t do this, okay? I was really scared when you did that…”
He suddenly looked up, and Vanessa was scared by his fierce gaze, taking several steps back.
“Why?”
He should have realized that Gabriella was in trouble a long time ago.
If only… Reynald actually knew he couldn’t change anything, but couldn’t help but go crazy thinking about it.
At least he didn’t leave without seeing the final farewell,
Vanessa barely composed herself and said, “Rey, I know I shouldn’t have lied to you about Gabriella insulting me. I just wanted you to care for me more, to like me a little bit more.”
Reynald seemed to have heard a joke, “I offer you two million a year to act, and you tell me you like it?”
“Vanessa, when did I ever give you that impression?”
Her face turned pale.
When Reynald first approached her, he clearly stated what she should do. The annual–contract renewal further solidified her position.
She actually knew better than anyone else that Reynald’s kindness towards her was only superficial, but she still lost herself in the adoration.
What if? Reynald treated her so well, maybe he also fell in love with her.

“I know I was wrong, I promise…” Vanessa tried to step forward to pull him, but his icy gaze kept her rooted to the spot.
“Escort her out, and also inform the legal department to hold her accountable for breach of contract.”
Vanessa’s breath caught in her throat, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Two million a year, a hundred times the penalty for violations.
She had already squandered all the money she had received, a hundred times the penalty, even if she risked her life to compensate, it would not be enough.
“Rey, in the future…”
Reynald didn’t look at her again as the bodyguard forcefully dragged her
out.
The surroundings quieted down once again.
Reynald sat dejectedly on the sofa, covering his face with his hands.
Betty hesitated for a moment, “Reynald, don’t do this…”
“Mom…” Reynald’s voice was strained, tears falling, “I never imagined that Gabriella would die.”
He didn’t even consider, let alone actually going public with those photos as he said, to ruin Gabriella’s remaining years.
What he thought was that they would never give up. The moment he died, everything should come to an end. He was willing to let Gabriella be free from then on.
Reynald pressed his hand against his chest, feeling the steady rhythm beneath his palm, but the overwhelming sense of emptiness almost

consumed him.
After a while, Reynald finally spoke again, “I want to arrange a funeral for Gabriella.”
Betty’s eyes widened, “The ashes have been scattered into the sea, what should we do about the funeral?”
“The first invitation was sent to the Hensley family.”
At that moment, Reynald was unusually calm, while Betty gasped in shock, feeling a chill run down her spine.
She felt inexplicably that once this layer of calm skin cracked open, it would reveal an even more chilling madness.
Reynald…
What did you want to do?!
