Chapter 9
Gabriella’s scandal stayed on the trending list for three days.
On the third day, Reynald was moved from the ICU to a regular room. When his friends and Vanessa came to visit, they brought it up.
“Gabriella got roasted. Everyone’s got a copy of her pics.”
“If I were her, I’d just hang myself. No way I could face anyone again.”
“She’s probably hiding in some dark corner, crying. Haha!”
Vanessa frowned. “This is too cruel. If I were her, I wouldn’t know how to
go on.”
“She’s not just any woman. Her dad was a murderer.”
“She deserved it. Justice served.”
They laughed and joked–none of them noticed how dark Reynald’s expression had turned. “What trending post?”
One of them handed over a phone right away.
“Reynald, look. We even planned to release new stuff now and then- keep her buried like a sewer rat.”
Reynald looked down. The photos showed Gabriella, barely dressed, posing seductively.
The face was hers. The body wasn’t.
His fingers tightened. His eyes turned ice–cold. “Where did these come from?”
Chapter 9
One guy proudly answered, “I had someone photoshop them. Over a hundred versions–all different styles.”
Reynald’s head snapped up. He slammed the guy’s head against the wall.
BANG!!!
The room went dead silent.
Blood splattered on Reynald’s face. He showed no expression, but his eyes were darker than death.
“Who told you to do this?”
Everyone froze. Vanessa’s smile disappeared.
“Rey… Reynald, didn’t you say at the funeral you’d leak her private pics?”
“Yeah, and it’s not the first time. You held a funeral for her, sent her a coffin, and told her to go die. We just added the photos…“.
Reynald let out a cold laugh, pure malice radiating off him.
“What I do to her is my business. Who do you think you are, doing that?
“Take it down. Post an apology. If I ever see another photo online, you’ll wish you were dead. Now–get out.”
They bolted, scrambling to clean up the mess. Only Vanessa stayed.
The door opened. Gwen walked in to check on him.
“You’re adjusting well. This heart seems to suit you.”
Something tugged tight in Reynald’s chest–her red, cold eyes from before surgery came to mind… and Gabriella’s last words.
“Dr. Loretta.”

She glanced up. “Yes?”
“Who donated the heart?”
Her gaze sharpened. “Why are you asking?”
“She saved my life. I’d like to help her family if I can.”
“No need.”
“What?” His brows furrowed.
Her eyes dropped to his chest. Her throat moved stiffly.
“She had no family. Her father was executed for murder. Her mother died early. Her elders disowned her. Thought she brought bad luck.
“So, there’s nothing you need to repay. Just live well.”
His heart pounded–each beat icy and loud. His blood ran cold.
That person… sounded just like Gabriella.
“How did she die?”
Gwen met his eyes, her lips twitching into a brittle smile.
“Maybe life was too hard. She killed herself.”
Reynald’s chest clenched. It felt like he was bleeding inside, like he couldn’t breathe.
“She…
What is her name?”
