Chapter 0005
•ELIJAH•
“Hey,” a voice greeted me at the door of my office, and when I lifted my eyes and saw Abigail, I straightened up with a smile on my face.
“Hey,” I smiled at her as she closed the door behind her and walked toward my desk.
“We need to talk,” she breathed as she sat down on the chair opposite mine.
I tensed up at that because I knew that it wasn’t something good.
In my mind, I assumed that it had something to do with my wife. That bitch couldn’t behave.
I hoped that for her sake, Darla wasn’t causing any trouble with Abigail and disturbing her peace.
“What is it? Is everything okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, but… There’s something I have to tell you.”
She took out something from her handbag and placed it on the table contour in front of me.
When I saw the positive pregnancy test, my heart raced, and I felt like I was sweating.
‘Wait -‘ In my mind, I wasn’t even sure that I nutted inside her, which explained the throbbing headache the following morning in our hotel room two months ago.
“I’m pregnant, Elijah. 9 weeks, and it’s your baby. Do you remember when we went to the hotel room two months ago? I didn’t know how to tell you because I feared that I was going to come between you and your wife. The last thing I want is for you to leave your wife because of me. I wanted to raise the baby alone, but since I’ve already accepted the job offer from you to be your secretary, I thought that I should let you know.”
“You’re pregnant?” I asked, honestly surprised by the news.
Fuck. I was in deep shit just when I thought that I was done fooling around with her and wanted to only regard her as my secretary and old acquaintance.
When I woke up and found out that Abigail and I did it the night before after drinking a whole bottle of whiskey celebrating a multi-billion deal that I scored, she assured me that we used a condom and that she was on birth control and I didn’t need to worry about anything.
“I’ll understand if you want nothing to do with the baby. I’ll work here for as long as I can so that I can have enough savings for the baby, and after that, I’ll leave.” She got up from the chair to leave when I stopped her.
“Abigail, wait,” I sighed as I got up and walked toward her.
I took her hands to mine and kissed them. “You know that I could never allow you to raise my child alone. I want to be there with you every step of the way because this is my responsibility as well.”
It didn’t make sense, but I wasn’t going to be a dick and allow her to raise a child that she claimed to be mine when I was very much capable of taking care of both of them.
Before I got married to Darla for business reasons, Abigail had always been my first choice and the woman that I wanted to have children with.
It felt like a blessing in disguise when she told me that she was carrying my seed.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to be seen as a homewrecker who got pregnant for a married man.”
“No one is going to bully you, threaten you, or do anything that’s going to make you uncomfortable as long as I am here,” I leaned my head and kissed her forehead.
“What are you going to do with Darla? I don’t think that she’s going to take it well if you have a baby with me.”
I sighed as I let go of her hands and went to sit down on the couch that was at the center of my office.
Darla was a good wife and respected our boundaries since we got married for the collaboration of our families on an estate project.
Other than that, she didn’t cause me any problems that would force me to get divorced from her.
She was the perfect definition of a traditional wife who submitted to her husband while he provided for her.
She knew how to make me feel like a man and couldn’t challenge me when it came to any political or business issues.
“What are you implying?” I asked as I lifted my eyes and looked at Abigail.
“I don’t know,” she leaned against my desk. “If you think that she’s going to accept the baby, then I don’t see any problem. But if she’s going to be a problem and wants to cause harm to me or the baby, then I would be forced to relocate with the baby back to my home and keep the baby away from both of you.”
“You won’t keep my child from me,” I scolded her. “Darla is my wife, so I’ll handle her. Don’t worry about that because I’ll make sure that you and the baby are good.”
She smirked as she came to me and sat on my lap, causing my member to respond to her on top of me.
“Thank you, babe. You’re going to be an amazing father to our child,” she smiled as she leaned down and started kissing me.
I couldn’t resist her. She was the love of my life before my family insisted on my marriage with Darla when Abigail was away for school.
Besides that, my mother never approved of Abigail because her family was not well-known or rich.
But I loved her and wanted to be with her the past two years I had been married to Darla.
“Come here,” I said as I swept her off her feet and gently sat her down on the table contour while she was giggling.
“What do you want to do to me?” She giggled.
“I missed this, your skin -” I kissed her neck. “You have no idea how much I’ve been craving to feel your lips again. Your body against mine -”
I was about to undress her and have her in my office when the door creaked open and Darla barged inside.
When Darla struggled with Abigail and caused her to faint when she hit her head on the floor, I thought of my child and knew from that moment what I had to do.
Divorcing her was my only option because I didn’t want Abigail to keep my baby away from me.
And when I pushed Darla too and she blacked out, my priority was making sure that the mother of my child was okay.
I had to watch Abigail overnight and get her the best help I could afford to make sure that they were okay.
In the morning, when I arrived at my office, I organized the divorce papers to be arranged so that I could present them to Darla when I got home.
She signed them, and I stood on the balcony with Abigail and watched as she got inside the car and left.
I pulled Abigail closer and embraced her because she was now my responsibility, and I was determined to do right by her and our child.
