Chapter 18

Zach paused for a moment, then suddenly laughed. As he laughed, his voice stopped, replaced by low, soft sobbing from the other end

The room is filled with all our memories, yet I can’t find a single trace of our past together.”

How can you be so cruel? You sold the house just like that and even cleaned it so thoroughly. You left so decisivelywhat am I supposed to do?”

I already removed Hannah’s name from the house in the suburbs. I’ve been trying to make amendsso why won’t you even give me the chance?”

The sobbing grew louder. His voice was hoarse. In the past, I would have felt my heart ache. I couldn’t bear to see him sad or crying

But now I understood clearly, that he wasn’t truly remorseful. He was simply more emotionally fragile because he was sick

Even if he had a chance to redo things, he might very well repeat the same mistakes

Stop holding on. Let Hannah take you to the hospital. I have to go to work. Goodbye.I said no more and hung up

When I decided to let go, I had no intention of turning back. Whether he lived well or poorly, it no longer concerned me

I got up, washed up, and drove to the company. As I arrived at the entrance, the atmosphere inside was lively, filled with excitement

Before I could ask, Diana grabbed my hand enthusiastically and spoke with sparkling eyes

Our previous client just launched the project. In two hours, it got eighty million views. They’re extremely satisfied and have decided to sign a longterm contract with us.”

This client was wellknown in the industry. Securing a longterm project with them was truly extraordinary

That month, Diana gave the project team a collective raise, boosting everyone’s motivation even more

With the bonus I received, combined with the money from selling my previous house, I bought a new one

This time, I chose a home according to my own preferences, farther from the city center, next to a large lake. The view from the windows was breathtaking. I also set aside time to design the renovation plans for the house

The previous house had been entirely my own design. Back then, Zach didn’t like other people designing the plans, so I learned his preferences and took a twomonth course to draw renovation blueprints..

Under Zach’s picky guidance, I revised the plans repeatedly until the house turned out just as he liked. Honestly, that house perfectly matched Zach’s taste

So when he told me he bought that house, I didn’t think it was because of nostalgia it was more about comfort

For my new home, I also designed a comfortable renovation style. Once the blueprints were ready, I handed them to a reliable construction team. Sometimes after work, I would personally visit the house to lend a hand

After a few days of commuting back and forth, I overexerted myself and one day accidentally injured my leg while going upstairs

After a few days of rest, I had to reduce the frequency of my visits. Diana encouraged me to rest and oversaw the construction, but I still looked forward to seeing the completed house

That day, I couldn’t resist visiting the new home after work. As soon as I arrived at the underground parking lot, I saw a familiar figure standing by a car
