Chapter 7
News that I had an abortion and applied for a transfer to another city quickly reached Dylan.
He searched for me like a maniac.
On the day I left, he rushed to the airport.
This time, he didn’t bring a ring–only an old wish jar.
Inside were the notes I’d written when I was young.
“Emilia, do you remember? You said that as long as this wish jar exists, no matter what mistake I make, you’ll forgive me once.
“For seven years, I’ve kept it with me, afraid that one day I’d lose you.”
His voice choked. “Emilia, please don’t go. Okay?”
To say that someone you had loved for seven years could be completely let go of in just a few days was nothing but self–deception.
At that moment, my heart wavered.
But in the end, I still turned around and walked into the security checkpoint.
I didn’t look back.
I believed that time would be the best antidote.
One day, the name Dylan would be nothing more than a familiar stranger in my eyes.
Chapter 7
Five years flew by in a flash.
In these five years, relying on my professional abilities, I gained a firm foothold in the new city and established my own psychological counseling studio.
Occasionally, I would hear some news about Dylan from my former colleagues.
It was said that after I left, Mandy reacted fiercely to Dylan’s decision to transfer her case.
She went to the police station to make a scene, but Dylan dealt with it coldly.
Gossip began to spread in the police station.
Some said that Dylan took advantage of his position to have an affair with the victim, and then abandoned her after getting what he wanted.
Mandy lived every day under the criticism of others, and her mental state grew worse and worse.
Finally, she broke down one day.
She reported to the inspector, claiming that Dylan had made inappropriate remarks and behaviors toward her during psychological counseling and had mentally controlled her.
She said that Dylan had maliciously retaliated by transferring her away because she refused to submit.
Those private recordings became the most unfavorable evidence.
Although everyone knew that Mandy was being unreasonable.
But in the recordings, Dylan’s voice clearly went beyond the concern a police officer should show a victim.

Coupled with the existence of me, the abandoned fiancée.
Dylan was suspended from duty for investigation.
In order to calm things down, the police force asked Dylan to take charge of Mandy’s case again.
A paranoid dependent and a savior with a guilty conscience are like dry wood meeting a blazing fire.
In the first year after I left, they got together.
My former colleagues were afraid that I would be sad and didn’t dare to tell me.
In fact, I had long guessed the ending.
A man’s change of heart is like a flood that has opened its gates.
I just didn’t expect that this would be the beginning of Dylan’s retribution.
