Chapter 6
Fiona spotted me the moment I walked in.
She shrieked, “Evie, what are you doing here?!”
Edward and Levi saw me too, panic flashing across their faces. “Somebody, get her out of here!” they shouted.
Terrified the guests might learn the truth behind their dirty dealings and ruin the
reputations, they couldn’t wait to throw me out of the venue.
But they quickly realized that everyone at the reception seemed to have changed–their commands fell on deaf ears.
In a panic, Levi lunged toward me, ready to use force.
Dominic and Vanessa stopped him, smiling coolly. “She’s our honored guest. Don’t be reckless.”
Levi stared at me in disbelief.
He couldn’t understand how the woman he’d left suffering in the basement just moments ago was now being treated as a VIP by the Granthol family.
I strode confidently onto the stage and gave a single order, “Hold them down!”
At my command, the entire crowd surged forward to seize Levi and his parents.
The same people who’d been fawning over them just moments earlier now turned on them with fierce hostility.
Levi screamed in terror, “What are you doing?!

“I’m the head of the Granthol family’s businesses now! Don’t you care about your jobs or your futures?”
But his threats meant nothing.
Desperate, Levi grabbed Vanessa’s arm. “Honey, I’m your husband! Help me!”
But Vanessa shook off his hand, her eyes icy cold, not saying a single
word.
Even his father–in–law, Dominic, simply stared at him, making no move to
intervene.//
Completely bewildered, Levi was quickly overpowered.
They forced him to his knees before me, rage finally eclipsing his fear.
“Evie, what did you do? Why are they all listening to you?
“Why?!”
He turned and roared at the crowd, “I signed the papers! The Granthol family’s fortune is mine!
“If you disrespect me now, I’ll make sure you all pay for it!
“Let me go!”
He struggled with all his might.
Watching him flail, still clueless about the situation, I couldn’t help but laugh. “Is it really all yours?”
I placed the documents in front of him.
He stared in disbelief as the words on the page began to fade, until only his lonely signature remained on a blank sheet of paper.

His anguished screams brought me a flicker of relief.
Only by taking away what he cared about most could he finally understand what true, gut–wrenching pain felt like.
I ordered Edward and Fiona, still dazed and confused, to be brought
forward as well.
When they saw that the documents they’d signed had also turned to worthless scraps, they, too, began cursing me just like Levi.
I sneered, “Why haven’t any of you realized something’s wrong?”
No sooner had I finished speaking than a voice echoed through the hall- voice that sent terror through their hearts.
The next moment, Daniela, long dead, suddenly appeared at the wedding.
The instant they saw her, all three fell silent, cold sweat pouring down.
their faces.
They’d seen Daniela’s body cremated with their own eyes–how could she be standing here, perfectly whole?
Daniela rushed at Levi, grabbing him and shrieking, “Levi, it’s all fake! None of this is real!”
Her voice was raw and broken, as if her throat were torn.
Remembering the horror of Daniela’s death, Levi nearly lost control of himself.
He desperately tried to pry her hands off. “You chose to die! It had nothing to do with me!”
Edward and Fiona were paralyzed with fear.
Levi finally wrenched himself free, watching helplessly as Daniela faded. away before his eyes.
Only her piercing cry lingered in the vast, empty hall. “It’s all fake! None of this is real!”
