Chapter 4
Just like in my previous life, after Levi sent the children away, his face lit up with excitement.
The three of them huddled together, whispering about God knows what.
Seeing me sitting there in silence, Levi did something out of character- he actually walked over and tried to tend to my wounds.
“Evie, don’t worry. After all these years together, I promise I’ll make sure you have a good life.”
I stared at him coldly, refusing to say a word.
Because I knew some of his choices were bound to be different from
before.

Sure enough, the very next day, he took me out and drove straight to the courthouse, saying he wanted a divorce.
I sneered, “Didn’t you promise me a good life?”
Levi scoffed, “Divorcing you and setting you free–that is a good life. Don’t push your luck!
“I’m warning you, don’t try to stall me, or I’ll never tell you where the kids
were sent.”
The cold smirk on his lips made my mind reel.
After all those years together, he’d always treated me well.
We didn’t have much, but I’d chosen him anyway–even cut ties with my own family to marry him.
But I never imagined his true nature could be so selfish.
When I didn’t respond, Levi grew
he want and dragged me inside,
getting the divorce papers just as he wanted.
He was so thrilled holding that certificate, he didn’t notice anything off.

Back home, just like last time, he locked me up and grinned menacingly. “Evie, you’ve always wanted to know the truth, haven’t you? In a few days, you’ll find out.”
A few days later.
He took me to a secluded villa and threw me hard onto the floor.
I looked up.
A sickly girl sat in a wheelchair, surrounded by candles.
Outside the circle, a so–called master pressed his palms together, chanting incantations under his breath.
It was a bizarre, unsettling ritual.
And right then, Jeremy and Kimberly were placed beside the girl, crying their hearts out.
My heart felt like it was being ripped apart.
So it was true–they’d been brought here to save this girl’s life.
The girl in front of me was Vanessa Granthol, daughter of the wealthiest. man in the country.
Rumor had it she’d been bedridden since childhood, haunted by evil spirits.
Chapter 4
Only a pair of twins with a special fate could save her.
Now she was 19, and the master had declared she wouldn’t live to see
twenty.
Her father had tried everything to keep her alive.
Faced with such enormous benefits, Levi chose to sacrifice his own.
children.
And that document–it was a partnership agreement.
“The master said I’m the children’s father, and my fate aligns perfectly with Ms. Granthol’s. She’s going to marry me!
“Soon, I’ll be the most envied man in Los Angeles–money and power, all mine!”
Vanessa was more than a decade younger than Levi, beautiful and elegant, the heiress to a fortune,
For a girl like her to marry Levi was the ultimate temptation.
I stood quietly off to the side.
I didn’t interrupt the twisted ceremony, nor did I try to stop Levi’s delusions.
I wanted him to climb as high as he could.
Only when he reached the very top–only then would I drag him down into the abyss, so he would finally feel the pain and regret he deserved.
