Chapter 5
Leaving the Morgan estate, Elijah returned to campus.
The moment she reached the girls‘ dormitory, she saw the ground beneath the building covered in
rose petals.
Clusters of students stood around, buzzing with excitement, chattering over something big.
It turned out Ethan had just made his official announcement. He and Hannah were publicly declaring their relationship.
Elijah hadn’t planned to pay attention.
But Ethan was being so loud, so showy this time… avoiding it was impossible.
In the center of the crowd, Ethan stood holding Hannah close, one arm wrapped around her slender
waist.
His gaze was soft, almost indulgent, brimming with warmth Elijah had never seen before.
Facing his friends, he introduced her proudly.
“This is the girl I’ve been in love with for a long time. She’s my girlfriend.”
Then, with a dramatic grin, he raised his voice so everyone could hear:
“If I ever betray Hannah, may I end up broke for the rest of my life, and may I be reborn as a pig in
the next!”
Laughter and whistles erupted from the crowd. Amid the cheers, he leaned down and brushed a playful kiss across Hannah’s flushed cheek.
From a distance, Elijah watched silently.
Her mind wandered back to those three secret years she had spent with him.
On the bed, he had been passionate, almost possessive. But the moment they left it, he became ice–cold, pretending she didn’t exist.
He had never once introduced her to anyone. Even in their most heated moments, Ethan refused to leave so much as a faint mark on her skin. No hickey. No trace. No evidence.
And even in her previous life, when she became his wife, Ethan had treated her with nothing but

disdain.
Not once. Not even at their wedding had he ever introduced her the way he just introduced Hannah.
“This is my wife.”
Elijah let out a quiet, controlled breath.
What used to burn like longing… Now, it felt distant.
Whether Ethan married Hannah, or chose someone else entirely, it no longer had anything to do
with her.
She was about to turn and leave when Hannah’s delicate hand slipped into Ethan’s arm, pulling him forward until they stood right in her path.
Hannah smiled sweetly, her tone light and teasing.
“You must be the little sister, right? What a coincidence! Do you still remember me? We just met a couple of days ago.”
Hannah Lopez was famous on campus, the arts department’s crowned beauty, adored for her elegance and charm.
In both lifetimes, Elijah had crossed paths with her more than once. And every time, there had been something… off.
Hannah’s smiles always seemed just a little too perfect, her friendliness a little too polished, as if
every word was laced with subtle hooks.
Elijah remembered it clearly. The day before the scandalous post went online, Hannah was the only person who had borrowed her phone.
Now, standing face–to–face, Hannah tilted her head slightly, lips curved in a playful question.
“With a brother like Ethan, it must be hard to find any other guy worth looking at, right?”
Then, covering her lips with her hand, she laughed lightly, feigning innocence.
“You know, I just heard this wild rumor… Apparently, there’s this family with an adopted daughter who developed feelings for their only son. She tried seducing him, got caught, and ended up thrown
out of the house!”
She sighed dramatically, her voice sweet as honey, but her words sharp as blades.

“Ah, girls these days… instead of living decently, they’d rather throw themselves away–free and
cheap.”
Then Hannah glanced at Elijah, her smile flawless and gentle.
“Good thing Ethan’s god–sister is you, Elijah. You’re clearly independent and self–respecting. Definitely not the shameless kind.”
She clasped Elijah’s hand briefly, feigning genuine relief.
“Seeing you, I can finally relax!”
The venom in her words was so well hidden behind sugar–coated tones that anyone else might have believed her sincerity.
Ethan smiled faintly, letting her little performance unfold without interruption.
Then, as though adding a casual seal to her mockery, he said lazily.
“Don’t worry. If someone like that–someone completely shameless–ever shows up, I’ll be the
first one to throw her out myself. I won’t even wait for my parents to make a move.”
Hannah gasped softly and gave his arm a playful push, pretending to pout.
“You’re terrible. Don’t you know how to be gentle with girls?”
The two of them laughed lightly, their intimate gestures drawing delighted squeals from the
onlookers.
Elijah simply watched, her face calm and detached.
In her previous life, Hannah had been far less restrained. Back then, she had kissed Ethan deeply,
tongue and all, right in front of Elijah’s face,
almost daring her to react.
If Hannah was trying to provoke her now… She had chosen the wrong target.
Elijah was just a temporary “god–sister” with seven days left on the clock.
Seven days, and she’d be gone.
No matter what Hannah tried, Elijah would no longer let herself be dragged into their world.
